Loved them - had a massive collection...Was addicted to buying them and playing against classmates for keeps. Was quite handy at them if I do say so myself!

Aye, I used to have a metal slammer that would just wipe everyone out

A better question might be why did we used to think these were great, they're just discs of card and plastic...

My sis recently found her old pogs and organised a tournament with her friends!! Altho didn't go down as well as the old days - I think pogs were great cos you loved them so much and didn't want to lose them to your friend - especially the shiny/hollogram ones!! When you're not that bothered it loses it's appeal!!! lol :D
(Loved the metal slammers, I had one all jagged at the edges:))

I recently bought a heap of them on eBay for pennies. :) I got a 'game board' that came with slammers.

Also loved pogs..you could get them in the egg 20p machines too...the joy when you got a "shiney" or slammer...I also had a metal one with the jagged edges, how cool :D

Wasnt the game where youeach put a pog down and you would use the slammer to try and flip them by slamming the pog on the stack...I cant really remember :(

Ah I remember the days going around the yard with a bum bag full of pogs. I think it was the only fad in our school that wasn't banned! I remember playing a game of slammers with my friend (where you play for slammers instead of pogs) and I broke her plastic slammer with my metal jagged one, best game ever! (though I think I left her in tears)

I also had a pog maker, but it was kinda crap, they used to come out all frayed at the sides.

There were some that I just wouldn't put on the line!!! Not an emotional appeal but they just looked great (and shiney)...

Pogs were banned at my school :( Lots of confiscations there...Think people were suspicious that teachers were having their own matches and tournaments with what they took! :) Them were the days, simple pleasures!
