Replacing bulb on dash

The light behind my hot/cold, fan etc. switches is gone.
Driving it long enough now to know what position does what at night, but it makes the cabin really dark and i hate when things dont work.

Has anyone ever changed the bulb on this before? I have the knobs off, and the fasica. Revealed a sturdy looking thing that i unscrewed 4 screws from and its loosened, but wont fit out the hole its in. I kinda thought it would slide out like a car radio does. I dont want to force it though.

Is it 501 capless bulbs behind these things?

    Any advice?

BTW: '98 Seat Ibiza, so pretty common dash style, simular age of VW/Audi be the same.

As far as I know it's one of those really small capless ones and it's in a little socket under the middle knob of the heating controls ( fan speed control )

middle one on mind is the hot/cold knob. but that looked the brightest compared to the left and right one so it makes sense that the bulb is there. i already have the cover off it, how do i remove the middle thing so i can locate the bulb? does it just pull off like the plastic cover did?

The knob should be coming out if I remember correctly. Try turning it fully up or down and pull gently ( emphasis on gently ) it should come out and the little socket is in there. If that's not the fix I'll know by tonight, I'm going up to a mate who used to work in a Seat garage later and I'll ask him to be 100% sure.
