Anyone know why Aer Lingus didnt go into an alliance with Emirates on this route allowing pax to continue on on their route netowrk? did EI approach Emirates about a link up?
Just asking considering how successful the Etihad route is proving and the fact that EIs ends in March

It's a pity Aer Lingus can't stick Dermot Mannion back in Dubai when they pull out of there.

Etihad have excelled on the route. Its gone to daily. EI's service does not compare to Etihads....

According to an inside source with EI, (a close relative). Emirates took one look at the scruffy state of the Aer Lingus A330s and demurred. Not the kind of image Emirates wanted to project apparently.

Actually Emirates have stopped all their codeshares. I believe the scruffy planes has little to do with the decision (although some of the 330s are very scruffy at this stage). Emirates could easily have allowed EI to sent onward pax ex DUB to them while at the same time not encouraging their own pax to travel to DUB. Thie gets them extra pax and shows their superior cabins and serviec to the Irish who use the service. Emirates want to stand alone, seems a similar stance to Virgin Atlantic.
