    1. Is there anywhere where you can buy propane gas in shops, and does it work out cheaper than Green Gas?

    2. Where are the cheapest BB's? Need .2g 6mm. Currently getting 5000 for €23.25 from airsoftireland.com

    3. Would anybody reccomend this: nevermind

Sorry if they're stupid questions, I'm new to this airsoft business!

    Thanks

    1 yes B&Q

2 cheap BB's suck badly KSC,TM brand etc are good

3 Thats highly illegal in Ireland the limit is 1J or 328FPS with a .2g BB

    1. B&Q or any plumbers/builders merchant. But it's only about 2 or 3 euro cheaper than green gas. I'd rather not have the smell of propane in my nostrils for the sake of 2 bucks every couple of months.

    2. Any of the irish retailers (eirsoft.ie, mainirishairsoft.com, airsofteire.com, irishairsoftsupplies.com) have great deals on .2g bb's. Usually works out at a tenner for 3000.

    3. That's not only illegal, it's fugly and pretty useless on a skirmish field. The above mentioned websites have a large range of units that are legal in Ireland.

    ok thanks for replying.

How much is the propane in B&Q? Also do I need an adapter for it, and does it work the same as GG?

As for the BB's I just checked, they are AIM and are €14.99 with €8.25 shipping, so €23.25 incl. shipping.

    What ones would you reccomend?

Yes thanks Naked Dex, I was just looking at it, I currently only have a KSC Ingram, and am looking for a cheap enough rifle, preferably Gas.

its not worth just ordering in bbs you can get them at most skirmishing sites i know at HRTA its something like €17-18-19 per 5500 and have to agree wit NDex about the handgun, fugly indeed.

gas for a rifle that will be expensive

Whats wrong with Elcetric and i recommend the M14

I just think the gas ones are better. Was looking at a few but most are far too powerful 600fps + on Green Gas.

I may go electric, are they built well enough? Do they go accurate enough?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

Gas rifles in this country and this climate are pointless. Electric is the only stable and useful option. Not to mention the cheapest. Almost every gas rifle is outside the power limits designated by law as being legal. Gas rifle aren't much cop here anyway, they don't behave well in our climate. You'll get away with it in pistols and to an extent in subs, but the cooldown effect and ambient temperature means it'll never work quite right.

To use propane (about 8-10 bucks per bottle by the way) you will need an Airsoft Innovations Propane adaptor. Available from the sites I mentioned above also. You will also need some light silicon oil as propane is dry and needs to have oil supplemented in order to keep the gun working. Green Gas or indeed any type of airsoft gas has this lubrication atomised into it so that's another bonus.

BB wise, Excels, ASG Q-Bullets or ASG Blasters are what I use personally. But as long as they're good quality (I think Q-Bullets are only 8 bucks from MIA, they're cheap but they're good) then your only concern is price and if you want bios or not.

The TM M14 AEG is very accurate, If you went down the gas powered route Tanaka do gas rifles...Very dear though

Electric rifles are generally built better than gas I've seen. Simply because they've been building so many for so long, they have it to an art now. IF you really want something well built you can get a full metal body with CNC finish if you wanted. Be prepared to pay big bucks though.

B&Q have the propane for 14 euro i think is the price, its about the same price as the green gas and just a little bit bigger bottle but its a proper steal bottle and its pressurized with more gas than you get in a green gas bottle., the adapter is about 20quid and just screws into the top of the propane tank, if you go for the "airsoft innovations" adapter then you get a small bottle of silicone oil with it and an adapter that you can use on aerosol silicone cans.,
also propane is a bit stronger than green gas too.,

Ah but if you think about it, Airsoft is a way of life. Discussion of it can cover subjects like physics, engineering, geography, history, art, finance, politics and law. Airsoft is all encompassing so I say everything is on topic here :D

That's the most shamefully generic statement I've ever heard on here.

I love it. Charlie Haughey would be proud...
