Different salary, same job?

    Quick question, private sector.
Same job, exactly same work routine and roster (except I trained this person and take on excess duties to him)

There is apparently a salary scale which 'is never deviated from' companywide (big company)- but he is a good friend of the manager responsible for my section and was actively recruited by him.

Could it be possible in anyway that such a large company (given the outline above) deviate and yer man is on more than me??L<purely through being a mate of the line manager?

I am 01% certain that he is...and yes, I have begun investigations and it is turning out suspicious. (But I am a tad paranoid anyways)
