Im hoping to become a primary school teacher and wanted to begin college in Sep 2008. Have i left it too late to apply for courses here at home?
The thing is , i will have to repeat my irish so do u think im cutting it a bit fine to start studying the gaeilge now with hopes to resit the lc irish this summer, with a view to getting into one of the irish colleges, or hibernia by the end of the year. is it too late to make an application to resit my l.c irish this summer?
im applying for pgce primary courses now aswell (which i left late also...) i sort of panicked with the new year and now realised i should have panicked back in september of last year!
My hons degree is in fine art 2:1 graduated 2006 i hope the subject choice doesnt go against me.
any advice would be greatly appreciated. iv looked through all the threads they have been a great help!

It's too late to apply to sit the Irish paper this year, sure it's not long til the Oral Exam. Concentrate on it for next year & you'll have a better chance. Cén sórt caighdéan atá agat i nGaeilge faoi láthair?

yes it is to late.. if you got at least a C in higher level irish at leaving or even if you done irish (and passed) in the first year of your degree then you are eligible for the post graduate course. apllication forms come out around the end of octotber or trhe begining of novenmber and have to be back within a few weeks generally by the end of november. you will then be called for interview which will be held around the middle of december which will consist of an oral interview in front of two people and also an irish oral again in front of two people. the standard of irish required is about leaving cert oral standard. jus need to be able to communicate and show that you have a good grasp of all tenses. The course starts in feb and runs for 18months until the following june. If you have to repeat leaving cert irish i urge you to contact your school immediately as most will already have taken enrollment for incoming fiirst years. Speaking from experience one tip i'll give is that before you go for your interview for the post grad make sure you have some experience either teaching or working with children in some situation.. I thought if i had every thing else excellent that it wouldn't matter that i had only a very small bit of experience but it did matter and i wasn't accepted for the course on those grounds..
    Good Luck.

It's not too late to apply for the Leaving this year.

    From the SEC site:
The closing date for receipt of completed application forms for entry to the 2008 examination is 5.00 PM on Friday 1st February 2008. Entries can be accepted after that date but they will be subject to late fees.

Get your skates on and apply tomorrow as an external candidate.
