Do you mean going from having zero experience to passing a test in a week? I doubt there is anywhere that does it, just because you can't possibly learn to drive in a week, so much of it is road experience which you wouldn't have with such a course. I would say the minimum amount of driving experience you would need would be a month at the very minimum.

Plus there is a rule that you are not allowed to sit a driving test until you have had 6 months of driving/6 months since you got your provisional license.

They do the 2 day intense courses in the UK alright - but not here.

    Two options, here in Ireland.

After your full license, is your advanced driving license.. (which for me is the next step after my full license).

    Other than that.

With your full license, join the gardai. They have quite and intense driving simulation I here, from. Driving a 60-70 and your instructor basically pushing the wheel, and seeing how quick you get the car under control, etc.... (thats just for demonstration purposes, obviously that is highly dangerous.)

Dont think he is looking for advanced driving test after a full licence.. by the way what advanced driving licence? all there is is a few advanced driving courses for full licence drivers, nothing that gives you an better licence. but may get a few quid off insurance

Sorry for my ignorance chris, but I have not looked into it in full, and as far as I know you are correct, there is no license as such more a cert.

Its a more mental test rather than physical IE driving.

As I said I have not looked into it, just a suggestion !

If you've never driven before...... not a hope, it takes years, if ever, to fully comprehend and percieve all situations and scenarios. When you pass your test you are still learning roadskills for the rest of your life.:):):)

I did 2 lessons when I was 19 (now 25) then i got a quote for insurance (€4500) and havent driven since, till last summer. Did 3 lessons then bought a car (just before the learner driving alone laws came in) practiced myself at the weekends and did the test after 6 weeks. I found it very easy (was in the SGS test centre in Dun Laoghaire) I got 2 grade 2's (one for me being silly at the very end of the test) and a grade 1.

The only tip I have is buy a sat nav (if you dont know the area), i learned to drive in dublin city centre and knowing where I was going the whole time gave me great confidence (lanes etc). Drove out to Dundrum after a week. Liffey valley (down the quays) and Blanchardstown the following week (this was kind of scary). It all gave me great confidence and by the time I got to the exam I flew through it.

    Hello all

I have a provisional driving licence. I don't have a car, and I've had very few lessons. From the few I've had though, I'm a pretty good driver.

I would like to get my full licence as quick as possible.

I've heard there are intensive courses in Leitrim and places like that. Basically you spend a week driving, and then do the test at the end of the week.

    Are these courses any good?

Do any of you have any experience of them?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thred but I too am interested in one of these intensive driving courses for a week & test at the end. I heard of someone doing it in Westpost a few years ago... I have 2 years of driving experience on & off but I find it hard to get enough practice in s I have no-one to accompany me.. If anyone knows about anywhere I can do this week long course let me know. I have looked online but can't find any info..

old thread but this is relevant.

    <SNIP>

They seem good, I did a pretest with them and it was a high standard.

All in residential driving courses over a number of days.

obviously you still need the provisional for 6 months before you can take your test. but no harm in taking this course with 2 months left, no where does it say you have to learn to drive in 6 months, just that you have to wait 6 months to take the test.
