strange question i know but this is wrecking my head.... In 'trash' I can't delete this file which has no name only what looks like '\\\\\\\\\\\' and is described as an 'alias' file with 0kb. It disappears if I use Command I to 'get info' but reappears as soon as trash is closed....am I the only one seeing this???????

ps it has only appeared in the last couple of months

    cheers

Try deleting it from the terminal:
    rm -R ~/.Trash

Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal. Type what I wrote above, exactly as I wrote it.

I suppose in theory it could be some sort of Windows virus. If you're worried you could use a free app called ClamXav to scan your computer (do a search for it on MacUpdate.com). But I'd try the terminal first.

Hold down the option key as you click 'empty trash' and see if that helps.
