Protein treatments for hair

I want to get my hair in great condition. It's not coloured and I rarely (like once a month) use straighteners, I never blowdry. On the whole it's in good condition but a bit frizzy on top and a tiny bit dry. I always use a good moisturising conditioner, like sebastian or kerastase, but I have also started using protein treatments. However, I have since read that using protein treatments on undamaged hair is not a good idea, as too much protein causes breakage. Does anyone know what limit I should stick to with my protein treatments? I have bought a sebastian one and a nexxus one, and they were expensive, so I want to use them up and not waste them.

Also, how long do you think hair conditioners last in their bottles before they start losing their powers or going off?

I didnt know this where did you hear it? I use protein treatments to keep my haor in good condition too never though they could do harm. the tricky thing is figuring out what hair is damaged and undamaged as its hard to kniow!

I got new highlights today from a hairdresser I don't usually go to. My hair is a lot blonder than usual...and the hairdresser was really rough combing it through when it was wet. She used a comb with really thin teeth...and I could see lots of my hair coming out in it. Now my hair looks like it has loads of split ends...and I'm really cross. I'm annoyed I didn't say anything besides OW! when she was combing...which she kinda ignored. Which protein treatments do ye use. I want my hair to look healthy again ASAP. I know it's going to take a while with all these split ends, but I guess a protein treatment is the best way. I wouldn't mind, but I just couldn't get through to my usual hairdresser the last couple of days, so I just tried someone else:mad:
