    Hi guys,

I'm hoping to go on a holiday to South America during the summer. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of the cheapest way of flying out there. My friend told me to maybe try flying to Miami and then down or direct from Madrid. Just wondering if you lot have any alternative suggestions or experiences that you'd recommend. Taking into account cost and difficulty of travel.

    Cheers.

any ideas where you want to head in south america? cheapest i found for argentina was via madrid, but another day it might be another airline, and another route. it really is just down to availability most of the time

I did an open jaw ticket flying into Venezuela in Sept and out of Brazil in April, was 900 euros but I booked it about 5 months before I was due to travel plus it was off peak season so was a good fare I think. If you're flying in summer it's going to be dear regardless, cheapest places in general to fly into are Buenos Aires and Rio as they are on east coast and closer to Europe. I flew with Lufthansa through Frankfurt both times.

For info on when the generally cheapest times and what the cheapest destinations are I'd recommend asking a travel agent (you don't have to buy the tickets)

And as for buying flights I had the best luck looking on the American Airlines, KLM and Iberia websites directly.

But kayak.com is also supposed to be good.

    Bon Voyage!
