My mate's buying one tomorrow in Dublin, Canon mount. I distinctly remember someone saying they saw one for 100 or so? Cheapest she can find is 120. The search throws up sooooo many posts.

    Anyone?

Mine cost me about 60 online, that would be her best bet if she has the luxury of time to do that. Worth checking out adverts too if she is not averse to second hand.

Conns website lists it at €139.99, Berminghams at €129.99. It'd be worth phoning Gunns to see what their price is.

It was 85 for me a while back from Kea, and took three weeks (eek!). For the sake of 15 quid I think she wants it in her hands tomorrow. Thanks though :)

I picked one up in the Berminghams sale and I think it was €109. But that was a couple of months ago so I presume the sale is over by now.

Those 130+ prices are definitely are rip off! You can get the Nikon nifty fifty for 130 euro (and Nikon lenses on the whole are more expensive than Canon.)

Go online would be my suggestion but it have a look at Pixels on Grafton street - I remember they were cheapest store in Dublin for the Nikon nifty fifty (125) whereas Gunns were 130.

The Mk I had better build quality than the Mk II f1.8.
The f1.4 and f1.2 cost a lot more for that extra half stop and build quality.

The f1.8 Mk II is the one commonly known as the nifty fifty (or plastic fantastic)

He is indeed. He can be a bit slow to reply to emails sometimes (I think he's in the states a lot) but when Royal Mail sent my flash to Germany he was quick to reply and was very helpful. He'll also sell outside ebay for an additional discount.

IN Gunn's they are €130, was in there yesterday.
The cam I lost last week had the nifty fifty on it at the time. :(
I am totally broke but do want to buy it again, the standard 18-55 you get with the 400D is decent enough for a beginner though....I think.:o
