    Hi Folks,

do any of you have favourite suppliers when it comes to buying software?

I'm looking to buy a new and legit copy of winxp pro, but there seems huge variability when i try to get a good price - what is it worth these days anyway?

The Microsoft site quotes $299 dollars, which seems a little steep, while Newegg.com offers it for $139.99 - which'd be great if they delivered to Ireland...

Would you recommend any shops in Dublin South/Dublin City Centre/online stores that deliver to Ireland?

    cheers!
    Robin.

Most shops sell the full retail version , and thats always going to be 200 plus ,

Online you can get the OEM version, and thats around the 130 mark

    Komplett do it ,

    So do Dabs

Dabs is cheaper for postage so that would be the one to go for ,

The difference between the full retail and the OEM is that the OEM is tied to one machine , you get to install and register once , however if you have to re-install a quick phone call is all it takes.

How many re-installs do you get with the Full Retail? I have one, and after making a phone call, I have it installed on 3 machines, and I'm just wondering how much further I can push my luck...

    Hi Mathias,
cheers for the quick reply. 8-)

I think I'll go with your suggestion, OEM seems to be the way to go, and far cheaper. All of the shops I've tried tell me it costs around 300+ for a retail copy, assuming they can even order it in the first place.

I rang up PC World in Carrickmines and those guys were saying that they no longer stocked it + couldn't order it + vista was the way to go (hmmmm).

anyway, thanks again - I don't suppose you could tell me where you saw the retail copy for approx 200E? That sounds too good to be true!

    Robin.
