Your looking for a TM P90 TR.
You can get them off numerous site like
    www.uncompany.com
    www.wgcshop.com
    www.eirsoft.ie
    www.airsofteire.com
With the TM P90 TR depending on if you decide to include a battery and charger
In the box you will get the P90, suppressor(silencer to most people), a cleaning rod, a loading rod ,a few bbs and a low cap magazine.

No P90s are not that fiddly but yes the hi caps do need a tap every once in a while and what is up with starter guns they dont exist at the end of it all AEGs are the same components and they are expensive so theres no real point in buying an AEG you dont like the look of

    1. Ehobbyasia, uncompany, etc etc. Check out the newbie sticky for details about retailers.

    2. A magazine and some bbs. Possibly a loader and a cleaning rod.

    3. A battery and a charger.

    4. Extra magazines.

5 Classic army are on the verge of releasing a cheaper version of the P90 (Before that the only decent one was made by Tokyo Marui and cost quite a bit) It's worth googling for some info.

So, what would you recommend about the same size as a p90?

Also, fiddly I dont mind, fairly technically and mechanically adept at this stage!

Don't be tempted by clone P90's. They have a dreadful record.

What's your price range if you don't mind me asking? There are other options but some are more expensive than others.

The FN2000 comes to mind immediately. Fairly cheap too. The TM MP7 is also a cracking option (I have one myself)

The TM mp7, although pretty cool, isn't really a proper AEG. It's closer to being an AEP. I'd recommend an AEG to a newbie to be honest.

Nothing wrong with the TM P90. Fiddly my arse ;)

Price range is not much of an issue (I have learned in the past its better to save for the better option than buy 2~3 of the cheaper option and work your way up!)

So, basically what I am looking for is a beginners setup (gun/ammo/mags/battery) and anything else required for maintenance and upkeep!

Also for the aesthetics, the P90 just gives me chills every time I see it! No other gun can do this to me :p

Any one out there selling a cheap P90 setup? ;-)

Nothing wrong with the word arse :p

I know several people who have bought the TM p90 as their first AEG (and second, or third..or forth..) and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever.

Any AEG can jam. With Tokyo Marui AEGs, It's not so much a problem with the particular model as they all function in a similar manner. It's more to do with random malformed bbs, a dodgy AEG itself, etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,641 ✭✭✭zero19

I think you should wait and see what the new Classic Army Sportsline P90 is like, it could be very very good...

Check the adverts section for someone selling something
Also a can of silicone oil is invaluble to the maintenance of an AEG
although not a neccesity to the running of the aeg out of the box

The p90 isn't fiddly but you should really do a few upgrades to it just to pimp it but tbh its still a beast just outta the box

That is true actually, I constantly think of it as an aeg. I was shocked at the range given it's size to be honest, thats what has me thinking of it more highly than an aep.

P90's are lovely things. However there's no such thing as a cheap P90 set up due to the price of the mags. The mags however, are works of art in the way they work.

Folks, a lot of you seem to be forgetting that all Tokyo Marui AEGs shoot and act around the same out of the box. Some have longer barrels and are a bit more accurate. But to be honest, they're all very similar. Once buying ANY Tokyo Marui model you could consider upgrading it.

Anyway, he's only new. Upgrading is a long way off. OP, It'll work fine and complete with other peoples AEGs out of the box without doing anything to it.

ive never heard of any issues with the TM P90., its a bid inderpowered out of the box but with a 1J spring it'll be fine, theres a few other mods you could do and you will have a cracking AEG.,

    Depends on budget,

If you have €140 to spend and you are starting off then

    Classic Army M4 Sportline
    or
    JG G36c

    Both solid AEGs

I imagine the new CA sportline models released later on in the year will also be very good starter AEGs.

Around €250 geta you a TM P90, its a nice AEG if that sort of look floats your boat :p

Magazines are quite expensive for the P90 with no reliable clone mags that I am aware of.

To be honest for €250 to €300 you cant go wrong with a Classic army or Tokyo Maruii to start off with. Bear in mind that with the TM & CA AEGs you also have to budget for a battery and charger too.

id reccomend both of the above, got the sportline for a mate lst week and it has a great ROF, high torque motor, precision motor and a cool design for dismantling the body., the JG G36c is hard as nails, very accurate with a 6.04 barrel and good ROF, its very compact with the stock folded too.,

P90 isnt under powered its an ideal piece of kit for HRTA ,cant go wrong with them, only problem im aware of is the 300rnd mags jam if you load over 280bbs in them ,as i found out last saturday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

not much point in waiting for CA sportline P90, there is no confirmed release date yet, could be any time in the next year

stock TM p90 will do you fine, the only fiddly thing about them is the 300 round hi-cap mag, you will need to spray a little bit of silicone oil into the gears inside the mag every now and again and ensure you keep the internals clean, other than that, they are fine and very reliable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

    OP,

If money isn't a major issue and you are handy technically (not really needed with a TM, the hi cap just needs oiling ) you would do well with a p90.

They are accurate for their size, high rof, and with a TM being able to fix the gun becomes less of an issue, you probably wont need to basically.

And you will have a cool and unique aeg to bring to hrta, g36 and m4 seem to be everywhere, and the m14.

Fitting a tight bore barrel would further increase accuracy and would be easy enough for most people comfortable working on anything, the 1 joule spring, you'd want to research gearbox maintenance and disassembly first.

Also stickm a 9.6v in it and youll end up reloading those 300round mags every few seconds :) ..

OH you know what i mean Gatling ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

as DR Pepper pointed out add a 9.6 battery and you get an awesome rate of fire ,add a M203 launcher to complete the package

Best wait until SHOT Show starts and see what CA's P90 will be like (both sportline and hi-grade).

the CA is looking like a rumour some body threw a list out there ,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 206 ✭✭IronWolf

The list was publicly announced by a Spartan Imports staffer on Arnies. Spartan Imports are one of the biggest US distributors of CA and other airsoft manufacturers products.

Spartan Imports will apparently be showcasing the guns in SHOT Show 08 (02 Feb - 05 Feb), so I guess we'll know for sure then.

The staffer who posted the information (username: Orca) has always been on the money before, so I'd be interested to see where you've heard otherwise :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,312 ✭✭✭SLIM19198

    So, recommendations really are
1: Buy a cheaper starter and work way up!
2: wait to see what the CA bring out next month
    3: Jump in and buy a P90
4: buy extra mags/ammo and batteries for whatever I buy?
5: forget it all and get drunk :p (not an option, am a teetotaller ;) )

Thanks for all the advice lads, will probably watch the for sale forums for summat to toy around with a while and see what the CA announce next month! Am defo gonna get a P90, wether its the TM or the CA is the only decision now!

Also, whats with all the different models of P90 available, is there anywhere that explains all the differences in the available P90's?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 206 ✭✭IronWolf

There are two different TM versions, the differences are mostly aesthetic:

TM RDS version: Features black coloured lower receiver, one side rail and integrated RDS.

    tm-p90.jpg

TM TR (triple rail) version: Features grey coloured lower receiver, three rails (one scope rail, two smaller side rails), also comes with free socom style silencer.

Sig 552 has the exact same inner barrel length
    its a nice attractive gun.
there is a decent clone available from Jing Gong
has a folding stock so its easy to handle in cqb as well as being a great woodland competitor.
    has a side rail
has a bottom rail for anything from a mini launcher to a taclight
can be fitted with a $10 top rail for optics
    excellent iron sights.

cons: Can only take 8.4 volt minis
battery fitting may be fiddly during a skirmish
quite a complicated gun to strip down.

Having briefly owned a P90(TM) and currently owning a Sig 552 (TM). the performance of both is exceptional but i found that the P90 in my hands at least wasnt as pointable as a conventional rifle type and was harder to acquire targets quickly.

That said it is unbelievably accurate thanks to its integral red dot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,612 ✭✭✭bullets

I recently just bought the TM RDS version of the P90.
Amazing bit of Kit! I specifically wanted the RDS version
cos wel......you get a Red Dot site!!! Can always get a silencer
later and use it on several different AEG's but the RDS site on the TM P90
looked like it was designed specifically for it.
