MIDI Question? (Ableton & Yamaha dx7)

    I Have managed to get Ableton to recieve and record MIDI data from the Dx, but. I cannot manage to get Ableton to act as a sequencer and send MIDI note data to be played on the dx7. If anybody has any knowleged of MIDI and can offer me some advice its greatly appreciated.

    I haven't used Live in a while so I'm not sure but I'll try... Your physical connection is obviously ok if Live is recording MIDI. Check Live's MIDI setup preferences and make sure the outputs for the relevant MIDI connection are active. Make sure I/O options are visible in the performance/mixer view and select the appropriate MIDI output under MIDI To:

    Select Omni if you are given a choice of channels.

    Once all that is set up properly then you might need to do something with the DX7 to recieve MIDI inputs, don't know much about that I'm afraid.

    Its not on the control face of the dx7, but if you press function, 8 you are allowed to select what MIDI Channel to recieve on.
