Importing a Jewell trigger / export from USA

I'd have posted this in the main section except it seems to have imploded. Since I use my rifle for hunting here I am.

I have seen on a US site a Jewell trigger at a very good price, think half what you'd pay for it here. I'd like one at their prices.

Has anyone here actually gone through the process of getting an export permit from the USA to get something like this over here?

Any useful information would be good. Thanks in advance.

    John

Check with the American Embassy John. I mailed them once about scopes but in my experience they don't seem to be too interested unless you talk comercial quantities. Maybe mooching a few Canadian websites might be an idea ?

    John,
My very limited experience with this subject is it can be done but is a real PITA. Not much help.
This is an old thread that is a good source of information.

It would be alot easier if you knew anyone at all over there and get it shipped to them and then get them to ship it on as a gift otherwise i think its only pain and heartache

 Maybe I'll just wait and get my own trigger fiddled with if/when I get the rifle bedded, sounds like too much hassle to save 150 Euro. Probably get eaten up in fees and VAT and etc BS....

a while back I was going to purchase a volquartzen trigger for my remmy 597. I contacted rimfire magic in the uk who informed me that they would ship to a dealer in the Ireland. Alternatively tannoykoy guns and ammo in the north had a supply.

My two pence worth, can you source same in UK..

I don't think I looked CS, for all the hassle now I'm thinking it's not worth it, while a lot of shooting gear is cheaper in the UK, when you add postage and dealers fees it'd cut a lot of that saving.

Gift would be the right job or if someone was travelling back but I don't know anyone over there, which is a slight problem :D No matter as the rifle is shooting fine anyway, just be nice to have!

Thanks for the help and ideas lads :)

    John
Is the x-mark trigger not adjustable like the tikka's??
What do you think of the factory setting on the vl ss?
I handled one in the gun shop at the weekend couldnt get over the weight of of it:eek:i dont know how you manage it solo:DBut that thumbhole stock is a sweet bit of work its very comfortable to hold.

I use both hands Mark :D Factory setting is way too heavy, American insurance thing I think. It's a good enough trigger, we adjusted it already, could be better but I'm not complaining about it. Foxes don't like it anyway. Just the Jewell would be better, Timney quality control is meant to have gone to the dogs so I ruled them out.
