I am thinking of investing in new rain gear. Jacket and trousers has anyone purchased recently or seen any bargins about. I am willing to spend a few quid 200 - 300 euro I have 200 worth of vouchers

Got Kartell (the more expensive of their two options) in McGuirks last Autumn.
Very happy with them over the last few months. Not Goretex but waterproofness and breathability good. Quiter than Goretex which seems to rustle a lot to me, and half the price. Too early to evaluate longevity. But if still the same in 2 years time would have no hesitation in buying the same again.

check out tgw.com they're selling footjoy pants @ $50 only in navy
but they used to cost 125-150 here a while back
might as well get a top there aswell about $100 and ship both together

personally i have the galvin greene gear and the stuff and its "bulletproof"
bit pricey but have to recommend it
one year old well used and no bother except waist-string is only ok

2 mates invested on the strength of mine

    Proquip Silk Touch ftw!

Paid, I think, €325 for jacket and trousers in Golfworks a year ago. Light as a feather, roll up really small to stuff into the pockets of the bag and kept me dry as a bone in all sorts of weather, even last "summer".

Since starting golf I spent €100s on cheap suits that wouldn't keep me dry for one round. Each time I'd convince myself the next €80 suit would be the one. Total false economy. Spend the money on a quality suit and you won't even think about the weather. Once the course is open, you can enjoy a game.

Whereabouts did you buy the Galvin Green gear?

As a more general suggestion, I got one of the suits which has detachable arms from the elbows down - very nice for light rain or when you're just a bit cold coming down the back 9 in the evening.

I use the new Mizuno stuff which is the blue/black tops you see alot around. Not extremely light but I like some weight in my suit for warmth - even if it's not raining I often prefer a jacket to a jumper as it keeps off the wind too and you don't have to change if it does rain.
