Does anyone know where to go in Ireland for an AI conversion?

    Any ideas about cost too?

    Hehe, thanks.

Does anyone know whether a shop will do it for you? I might pop into Gunns and ask them - hopefully they do it (for cheap!)

If you can't find anyone and you have a handy dremel or something similar (or a file if you're stuck) you could always try and roll your own AI modification ...

Just out of curiousity, which lens is it ? 55mm Micro ?

did you get an f/1.4 or a 1.2, God forbid?

Well - can't say anything as it's not mine yet ;) - maybe in a few hours time.

But just thinking of future proofing (the D40 series is fully compatible with pre-AI lenses except for those that need mirror lock up). But if I choose to upgrade onto D80 etc...

    And it's a f2 50mm Nikkor-H

    that BAD ?
People pay $$ for pristine samples of any of the old 1.2 lenses :-) The Noct Nikkor 1.2 goes for thousands resale. I think they're all AI or AIS though. In fact you can still buy the 50mm 1.2 brand new . I figured you'd gotten one of the 55mm pre-ai micro nikkors which are still reputed to be pretty good.
