    Hi everyone,

I recently bought a line to record from a casette tape to my Laptop. But when I took it out my speakers wouldn't work again. Now when I put a line into the line in port I get no response. I used to get a message automatically telling me to choose an option, line in, microphone ect. The speakers do not respond to anything the computer plays but are reporting no technical fault and says everything is working fine. When I put a line from my MP3 player into my computer I can hear the MP3 player on the computer speakers. But the computer doesn't register anything. Does anyone know how I could fix this so that I could get sound from my computer again?

    Greatfully yours,
    Romantic S

PS. I have an Inspiron 1501 and Vista

Do you have Realtek Audio hardware in the laptop? The realtek software uses "Jack Sensing" to detect what you plug into the input/output jacks and gets it wrong half the time. Did you try reinstalling the drivers from www.dell.ie?
