Have many ppl here put bigger batteries into there AEG, if so what effects have ye noticed and are there any major side effects.

I have an ol' DE M83A2 (M4 lookalike), its a 7.2V Batt in it, its a crappy enough piece so if it burns out i don't mind so much.

Obviousily if it effects the 1J output limit then I will want to make sure that it doesn't superseed it.

Also in general have ppl had problems with there's

The higher voltage wont affect the power output, just the rate of fire.

I'm not familiar with that gun....has it got a plastic or metal gearbox ? A plastic gearbox probably wouldn't stand the extra strain for long, if at all.

My mate had one, not much cop really

Some info on it here http://www.airsoftohio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13683

There's nothing much too them, they look all plastic but i am curious it might be something that I can tinker with as a hobby...

I have a JG G36C got it second it off a friend who bought it from your good self shiva

i wouldnt really bother trying to upgrade one of those, you might burn out the battery and thats worth more than the gun,lol
you can get some huge gains by upping the batteries though, I fitted 10.8 to my G36 last night and its brilliant, cant wait to shoot people with it.,lol, :D its not reccomended though unless you give the gearbox a good going over before hand.,

in any decent aeg, a slightly larger battery would be fine in most cases, normal stock battery is 8.4v, i run all mine on 9.6 and in the case of my m249, a 10.8, but that's got a fully upgraded gearbox. turning the gears faster can wear things out faster, but that's a given, just like if you drive your car at high revs all the time you'll need to service it more often and youll wear out parts quicker

as Shiva said, bigger battery wont affect fps, just the rate of fire

I will have to give it a try, once i start skirmishing (arrnaging a wedding at the moment) I will be doing loads...

Now if only I could make a mini-Gatling gun for Airsoft, 7 rotating barrells of BB fury

yeah i was thinking of something along those lines too but id say it would be a nightmare to feed the BBs into it.,

well if you consider that if you had a two fold mechanicism, for example:

one section under neath feeds a single or number of BB's in the breach (Barrel) and then when its rotating it comes back up to the top section that then blows the BB out of the barrel. If you used a cog and piston based solution to feed and reload then you might be able to the timings right.

As KD said the higher voltage will put more strain on the gears. The other part most likely to wear out first from higher voltage use is the nylon bushings. If the piston is low quality it could possibly lose teeth from the increased gear speed.

yeah thats the trouble though, too many moving parts means more to go wrong and then you have to think about powering the rotating barrels aswell as the mechanism for the loading and then the actual firing mechanism,, it would be interesting though.,

FD: Cheers for that, I might stick with being a very close quartered combat gun

vtec: if you put the firing mechanism in the barrel as it rotates and have power connector to fire, you could also put a small generator in the rotate barrel to use the kenetic energy to charge capacitors in the barrels to provide the power for fire thus reducing the power consumption.

    <off-topic>
there's been several attempts at making an airsoft gatling gun, and more often than not, the easiest solution is to have the barrels rotating but the bbs actually firing from the centre spindle that the barrels rotate around.

getting the timing right that the bbs fire in that split second that the barrel is aligned correctly would be a major pain
