Of the ones you've listed, I'd go for the C4 Picasso. A lot better spec'd than the others. I drove a Zafira for a while and now have a C4 Picasso (5 seater) and I'd recommend the Citroën - it's light years ahead of the Opel.

having driven galaxy, zafira (x 2) and the current model a hyundai trajet

zafira, good if you have only 3 children, u will need a roof box if you are going on holidays, they have no boot, and the current model is missing a lot of extras fitted in the origional one. the hand brake if applied is difficult to release for a woman

galaxy, well speced, nice drive but more expensive that the rest

hyundai, good value for money, with a decent boot, currently driving the 1.9, find it a bit underpowered

    hope this helps

Don't forget the Corolla Verso ;)
More spec added to facelift model.

2.2 D-4D should be well priced after July

The Carens is a Kia. They also do the Carnival.

I had an 07 Zafira last year on Opels 3 day test drive thing and I can definately say I wouldnt be spendign my own money on one. Just didnt like anything about it at all.

Will be putting my money towards a Scenic at some stage after July though. The misssus has a 00 one and want to upgrade. The Picasso is the only other option shes interested in so it could still be a late runner.

The Galaxy is the next segment up , like the Espace, C8, 807 etc.

The C-max qould be comparible though.

I know you're a fan of the French, so take a look at the Picasso. I'm a VW nut, but after a few hours in the C4 I was converted.

BTW - I agree with your comments on the Zafira - so boring and uninspiring even if it has the best seat folding option. Fancy a butchers.............er, no thank you.

Everything in the new Zafira feels very square too, although that seems to be all opels lately, the whole car made with a pencil and ruler. Bit of a freehand curve here and there wouldnt go astray.

Had a VW multivan as a hire car in Germany this year (the site said Espace or similar, was hopeing for the espace so we could do an extended test drive and maybe stretch to moving up a segmment if we liked it). Was a nice enough drive all round. the 2.5 diesel; had plenty of go on the autobahn. Took a couple of days before I fiddled with the seats and got a good layout that had loads of space. Think they are a bit dearer than the Espace again so definately out of the question but a nice experience all the same.

Will be having a look at the C4 other way. I like nothing more than going around looking at cars. :) Had a nice test drive in the new Laguna a while back.

Never thought of the verso.. might be worth a look.
The Kia does'nt look to bad either but trade in value later may be an issue??

Anyone any ideas what the difference is between these Picasso's apart from the price!

    C4 Picasso 1.6HDi 110 Ambiance
    C4 Picasso 1.6HDi 110 Dynamique
    C4 Picasso 1.6HDi 110 Dynamique EGS

The Citroen site has a breakdown of what extras you get with each.

alloys, front fogs and armrests are the first few differences I noticed between Ambiance and Dynamique

I did a lot of research and ended up having to choose between the Galaxy and C4 Picasso. I went with the Galaxy Ghia, well built, 7 full sized seats. All 5 rear seats can be folded flat. I'm not a fan of french cars so the choice was easy.

The new Galaxy Ghia is a very very good car, resale value will be good , full size seats very comfy:)

As above though, your moving up a segment, and so are paying more. All the ones in that segment afaik have full size seats.

Which is very small. It wasn't even a 7 seater in 2004.

Drove many miles in the Zafira and it was great as a 5 seater (much bigger than Corolla), with a huge boot. It was a 1.6 and thirsty.

If 6 seats and a boot is better than 7 seats and no boot, there's also the Honda FRV.

Yep - check here. I've the 1.8 Privilege. You gotta love the automatic handbake (standard on all models) and so much more reliable and predictable than the one on the VW Passat!
