Unicorn AKSU, mod to allow standard V3 gearboxes

I just finished my first fix of the folding stock mechanism issue with the Unicorn AKSU that stopped a standard Version 3 gearbox from being installed. The problem was the bolt that makes up the folding mechanism is too thick to allow full travel of the fire selector sector gear on the exterior left of the gearbox. Unicorns fix for this was to cut the sector gear removing the back portion and one of the teeth on the gear. This was a very bad move since the gear can slip it's timing and the AEG will stop working correctly (no fire mode selection)

To fix this issue you must remove the gearbox from the receiver to expose the stock mechanism. Next step is to remove the locking bolt (you do not have to remove the stock from the receiver for this mod) looking inside the receiver you will see the bolt to the rear the mechanism is a simple affair comprising the bolt and a spring. Remove the spring by popping it out with a flathead screwdriver (the spring may fly out, wear eye protection) the bolt will now slide out of the receiver. Next a portion of the bolt must be removed, the section is between the spring guide block and the round bolt button seen below.

About 50% of the metal must be removed to allow the gear full travel. If a complete gear is used without this mod the AEG will not be able to switch to semi auto fire.

The bolt is made of tough steel, doing the work with a hand file is possible but not recommended. I was able to do the work in ten minutes with a dremmel (rotary tool) A lathe would be best if you have access to one.

Slide the bolt back into the receiver and replace the spring. Once the work is completed your Unicorn AKSU will be ready to take any Version 3 gearbox :)

    Wooh fiach yeah!

Now how about the loose cocking bolt:o
    Any good fix for that?
I'm tortured by the desire for an aksu, the unicorn or the dboys, and the realism of the unicorn versus the bother!

I'm going to be looking into the bolt next. I'm thinking of using a new longer guide rod and drilling a hole in the rear trunion that the rod can go into like on the Inokatsu AK's, shouldn't be too hard.

Yeah it has a lot needs doing but the upshot is the tough as nails body, this AEG just won't break.
