Well first thing to do is to clear it with IT in your place of work. If it turns out security is comprimised due to your actions, it could be your ass.

    The following are all options.
    http://www.realvnc.com
    http://www.logmein.com
    Windows Remote Desktop ([START]-[Run]-[mstsc]-[ENTER])

You may also want to looh into Hamachi (http://www.hamachi.cc) to set up a VPN over which to tunnel the access, it makes things a bit easier and more secure.

Logmein is by far the easiest to setup. But as SeanK says, you'll need to check this with your workplace. They might have a policy in place that prohibits such actions.

unless your IT people are complete cowboys the company firewall will block all your attempts.

talk to your IT people they may have a VPN solution in place

if you try something without telling the IT people then first check your terms and conditions of employment
