Regedit is not a valid WIN32 application - help

Guys, My brother recently bought a video camers and an editing package called GOYA. When he tries to install GOYA he gets he following message
"Regedit is not a valid WIN32 application"

I've searched the net and advice indicated that some virus may have created another Regedit file in C\windows. Advice seemd to be to delete the other version.

He has Nortom Antivirus and ran a scan but nothing found.

If there are multiple files, how do we know which one to delete? Would it be better just to re-name it as 1regedit???

Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.
