My advice is to start by looking at www.mba.com - this website is run by the GMAC, the organization that oversees the GMAT.

You can download two sample GMAT exams there. One way to prepare is to take one of these before you start studying to see how you are fixed (it replicates the actual exam experience in terms of user interface and time limits). Once you figure out what kind of questions you have problems with you can concentrate on these.

The GMAT guys also provide a good study/review guide with lots of old questions - here's an Amazon link:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-Guide-GMAT-Review/dp/140514176X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=gateway&qid=1200932610&sr=8-1

I think the GMAC website also allows you to book a test appointment, so you should be able to find the closest test centre to you. I have a feeling that there is someplace in Dublin where you can sit it (and possibly also in Belfast?)

Hope that helps. If you have any specific questions let me know - I sat the GMAT last year and I'm off to business school in August, so the experience is still reasonably fresh in my mind.
