Usually people post up instructors names, and with the popularity of BJJ people here will be interested in the qualifications of the instructor.

    Do you have a website?.

Sure sorry my first post on this forum, was not sure what to stick down exactly :)

    Instructors

Well basically I have been doing Ryoi Shinto Ryu since 2000, hold a 2nd Dan in it and run the session on a Wednesday. I got my blue belt under Matt Thornton a number of years ago (which John Kavanagh can confirm) and was an ATG but unfortunately had to stop being an ATG because I couldn't commit myself to hosting the extra night full time. With changes in the hall I am in this year it allowed me to open up on a Friday night running a BJJ basics session in which it is basics plus rolling. We are currently in process of reapplying with John to rejoin the ATG program.

On the Saturday the session is taken by a friend of mine Martin Hynes who has studied Boxing in Carlow Tech. He is a sport trainer and also has studied kickboxing for many years.

    Our website is www.ryoishintoryu.com

Hope that is enough info. Let me know if you need to know more.

    Thanks
    Richard Tighe

    Hello Richard

I noticed that your website mentions traditional European fencing. Is this offered at your school? Can you give any more info as regards the instructor(s), type of fencing (historical, competitive, classical)?

    Many thanks.

    Sure,

At present we are moving our location to Colaiste Doulaigh (spelling prob wrong ;) ) which will take place from 12-2 on a Saturday. It is run by my friend Mike and we are currently looking for new recruits. We are officially starting back in February, we are just waiting for some final confirmation on the hall.

It is Bolognese fencing specific to the teachings of Dall’Agocchie and is historical in nature although the focus is to focus upon training to a sparring standard. The classes will start with rapier and extend to include dagger, cloak, long sword, staff, cape, buckler etc.

Mike has been training for a very long time and has trained all over Europe. If you send me your email I will email you once we open officially.

Grand stuff, best of luck with things.

I think I spoke to you re. Jitz a few year's back and couldn't find your club venue in Raheny at the time.

It wouldn't surprise me. It is well hidden and is a pain to find at times. I think its location has cost me more students than anything else! Have a new map up and if your free on a Friday night it would be great to have another body down :)
