It would be class if it got the go ahead from both the GAA and NFL.

That would be mad alright... The stumbling block in my mind isn't the GAA opening Croke Park, but would there be enough demand on tickets in Ireland?

Many Irish went over to Wembley, so I'd say you'd get plenty of British fans coming over here.

Croke Park, Murrayfield and Millennium Stadium are 3 to be considered this year.

They just had the chap who apparently brought the Giants-Dophins game to Wembley, Alastair something. He confirmed there are three stadiums in the running for December 2008.

And also the NCAA game between Navy and Notre Dame is scheduled for Croke Park on 1 September 2012.

According to the chap on Sky Sports who organised the Giants-Dolphins game, up to 18 teams are out of the picture because of stadium contracts in their hometowns.

    This is from ESPN.com

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3205488
    ESPN.com wrote:
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers head a list of four teams under consideration to play in the NFL's 2008 game in the United Kingdom, a league source said Sunday.

The source identified the Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks as the leading candidates for the international series game to be played in the United Kingdom, probably in October.
The site of the game is undecided as the league is looking at two or three large stadium venues, as well as London's Wembley Stadium, site of the 2007 season's game between the Giants and Dolphins.

Sky just showed the possible match-ups - interesting one is Seattle - New England, this was the game that was meant for China this year that fell through so both teams are obviously willing to travel abroad...

Can't see them playing it in Croker to be honest.
We're not in the UK so does that not rule Croker out?

He mentioned Wembley and the Millennium Stadium in Wales, I didn't hear a mention of Croker though...

The Millenium Stadium would be a hell of a venue. Croker would be great obviously but I don't see it happening. As mentioned above, it wouldn't be in the NFLUK's portfolio of options due to it being another country. And I'm sure NFLUK would like to keep the NFL matches in the UK.

Saw the Bears and the Steelers at Croke awhile back. Preseason of course.

Wasn't that an agreement directly between the NFL and the GAA when they came though? As with the Army v Navy game?

I'd be 50/50 about going, but it seems like every second comment on Sky's coverage is from a Dub :p

as was said above, plenty of NFL fans from around Europe went to Wembley for the Giants-Dolphins game.why would it be any different about them coming to Ireland instead.

    i say Steelers-Jaguars in 2009 season.

    GO JAGS WOOO!!!

sure didn't they not play in croke park a good few years ago if it happened before don't see why they can't play there again..

I went over to Wembley for the Giants Dolphins game. Lots of Irish at it..

Seattle vs New England would be a savage game in Croker!

Seemed to me from the coverage last night that the 3 stadiums were in London, Cardiff and Edinburgh. Later on, Halling mentioned that Irish papers were referring to a game in Dublin, but seemed to suggest it would be in addition to any game in the UK, and not the same fixture.

The article seems to suggest that all the negotiations are between the Steeler's owner and Croke Park, would this have any bearing? Like if the NFL UK are organising a game, what's stopping an owner doing it himself? Isn't this "international series" thing supposed to allow up to 2 games a year??

arent the Steelers owned by an Irish family anyway? Might have some logic to them wanting to bring their potential international game to Ireland?

This would be absolutely unreal, although i don't think its very likely!

Yes, the Rooney family. Maybe they can play the Giants. Also, owned by an Irish family.

Recognise her from We Are Marshall? She's the offspring of both families. Meow.

Steelers and Bears have done it in Croke before. The Corrs were to sing the American national anthem and the sound system malfunctioned. Twas funnay. ;) But watching second, third, and fourth stringers play for three quarters. It's just not the same.

I'd go if there was almost any sort American Football game in Croker. I don't think I could justify going abroad for an NFL game unless it was the Giants playing again and that won't be likely as other teams deserve their turn.

He said he scouted Murrayfield and the Millennium Stadium with both having some good points and bad points. Also mentioned Dublin as being another place being considered.

    Just as happened last year as soon as the date and venue are anounced I and my friends will be booking flights and worrying about tickets etc later; That was how we done it last year and the atmosphere in London the night before was cracking;

If the game were to come to Dublin the boost that would be brought to the economy would be huge; The ammount of Americans and Europeans that were at the game was impressive; I would love the game to come to Dublin but expect it would be next season at best.

I think it will be Cardiff, Murrayfield or Twickenham as I cant see the FA of playing a WC qualifier on a pitch that has been abused by american football again

I just hope all the boggers dont complain and say "i wouldnt let them near the place,if they want to play that shtoppin an shtartin bull****e they can it somewhere else!"

You sure that wasn't Nick Halling that said that?

I remember him mentioning Dublin had been rumoured.
