VW passat problems..

I just bought a 1999 TDI VW passat privately, Im quite happy with it so far other than a few little niggles.
When I checked around the car I found that the driver side window isnt going up and down properly sounds like it could be a regulator problem as its grinding a bit ( I owned a SEAT cordoba a few years back so I know this problem!, so annoying)
and it needs a service I think cause the oil service is coming up on the dash.
Does anyone know a VW dealer or mechanic in Dublin who works weekends who could sort these couple of things?
I live near blanch so preferably out near me.. Places I've tried donts seem to work weekends and with me workin durin the week its hard to find time to get these things sorted.
Lastly anyone know where I could do a basic mechanic course and I do mean basic something that would teach me how to service the car etc..

    Thanks.

Buy a haynes manual and you should be able to do most of the servicing. stuff like oil change, air filter, fuel filter. glow plugs, drive belts, brake pads, brake fluid change, coolant change. These jobs should be all that would be required for a long time and these are the simple jobs that you end up paying 200 euro for come service time. You would need to use a garage for timing belt change but that is about every 70000 miles.
Your car will be much better looked after by doing this stuff yourself
