Target trigger for AR15

I've got an Oberland Arms Ar15 with standard crunchy gritty trigger. I want to use the rifle in competition and as such would like to replace the trigger with a drop in adjustablew single stage target trigger. So far my research is pointing towards a JP Enterpirses trigger kit. Has anyone any experience with this or other suitable trigger kits?

    thanks,
    Pat.

They sure are. I won't be taking the sissy option of shooting rifle IPSC Open Division with a scoped Ar15. I'm shooting in the real mans division i.e. Standard Division with Open sights, no bipod. No sit back & watch me crash & burn :eek::eek:

Oh my you are surely looking for a trashing at the next IPSC match Sidney. Plus it will be by a pike carrying yellow belly bogman :D:D

By the way I've changed my mind. I'm going to stick a scope on my rifle, add a compensator & shoot in Open Division with all the other "ladies"

Now to find a decent scope........

OT: but I'm wondering at 300m with open sights what size are the targets?

Hi Pat, did you have much hassle getting the license?

Would get back onto Oberland and ask them to advise on a proper match trigger. They charge enuff for that rifle!!:eek:So a proper trigger shouldnt be too difficult.
I'm curious meself, did you have much trouble with the liscense? As I am intrested in joining you folks for some practical rifle competitions .Fancy a SIG 550 though.:)

No trouble at all. Once you've got a good reason for it you should be ok. Over ther past couple of years I've had a few semi auto 223 licences. Started off first with HK SL8. Didn't like that then changed to Sabre Defence XR15. Didn't like that, then ended up with the Oberland Arms M5. When I'm going again I'll get a custom built IPSC Open Division rifle. :D:D

i didnt think practical rifle events were held in Ireland?

is this the reason you gave when applying for the cert?

IPSC rifle is not held in Ireland. My reason for the licence was to shoot IPSC rifle & "general" target shooting on approved ranges. I was giving up a licence to aquire this one so the process was more or less a "one off one on"

M1 Garand and a member of the vcrai, would this mean you could get a license because you have a reason for target shooting this
1940's rifle, its all wood with no mag sticking out?

    I see why not

Doesn't matter if the mag sticks out or not (or if it's made from wood or synthetic or anything else) - the only legal distinction is the action. Assuming it's not one of the late experimental M1s with the fully auto setting, then you can get a licence for it here, but it's on the restricted list as it's a semi-auto so you'll have to apply to the commissioner once the restricted list is enforced (no idea when that'll be but presumably before next August 1).

apply to the commissioner? is this like the non restricted licence with something extra, does it cost extra above the usual amount. Appreciate the replys & info.

    Not yet!
Some firearms have gone onto the restricted list (look up "restricted list" using the search function at the top of the page and you'll get a lot of stuff on it). But that list wasn't active for this year's August 1 renewals - I don't know when it is going live, I'm presuming it'll be before next year's renewals.
When it does, then you apply to the commissioner's office.

Cost is the same, but the decision isn't down to your local guy and there may be more mandatory preconditions put on the licence at the Commissioner's discretion. More details than that aren't really available as yet (at least not beyond the same level of solidity you'd normally associate with a promise made during a political campaign...)

Not a blanket no then. extra bells and whistles to be attached at a later
stage when ever this info gets made available. fine thanks.
