Ive reading other threads on this board about UPC broadband now not having to come with the basic tv, So. I am thinking of canceling my basic tv with them (Just need BB). I have a 80cm dish with quad lnb feeding 4 rooms. At present 1 UK FTV box (From my parents in Cambridge) and then various other FTA 3rd party sat boxes in other rooms.

    Now,

If i want to recieve multiroom sky, can i order my "free" sky boxes from sky with cards and subscribe to a package without having to have an engineer come round? All i need to do is plug in the boxes to the current satellite feeds?

Would i have to have them connected to a phone line (I dont have).

Been reading a few threads here but a little confused with the phoneline thing.

So basically what im saying, is can i get a free sky box off sky, plug it into my existing dish feeds and away i go?

You definitely need a phone line to prove all the cards are in the same house. I doubt they will give it to you without an engineer visiting but he will be delighted to see its already wired and will just plug the boxes in for you and test the phone lines.

Multi room not possible then at reduced rate I'm afraid unless you can get it working on NTL which so far I'm not sure anyone has

    You would think.

I had the exact same set up as the OP and the sky engineer came round took one look at the set up and ran for the hills. He would not touch it as it had not been installed by Sky.

I went to an independent dealer, told him my set up and he gave me the boxes to install myself and everyone's a winner. Sky dealer got paid for installing a job he never went to and I got my boxes without an installer doing it. Win win situation.

Very strange as all he had to do was plug the boxes in.

Yes. Avoid sky direct at all costs.
