The Man's Lounge

I just had a look at the ladies lounge, and sure enough after a brave start of taking about empowerment, inspirational women thought the ages and how they don't need men etc, all the threads are now about 1) periods, 2) shoes and 3) how they hate other women.

If there were a Man's Lounge what would we talk about? The reason I ask is because I've been given out to for suggesting that getting drunk and ending up in an exotic location is a manly thing to do. Equally, if you say football is a man's activity you will get hoards of wimmins brazenly saying that they can enjoy football too. Women have taken over toilet humour and they've taken to discussing masturbation like ducks to water.

My question is, what can men talk about that women can't or won't that might possibly deserve it's own forum?

Men have made contributions to just about every thread in LL too. I would imagine there are a majority of male posters in football, comics and motors fora though, actually I would think there is a vast majority of male posters in every forum but the LL.

    And PI.

93% of PI's are started by wimmin.

27% of boards members know this.

Thats 73.5% true. But there still are a lot of PI's from guys...

The tech forums would be mostly male dominated for obvious reasons.

And the whole of the gaming section. I wonder if they are all the ones posting in PI?

Men go to the bar, not the lounge.

The tread about hating other women that was started by Tallaght01 - who is a guy.

Not with these liberated types; once they hear that men like farting they try to do it, and try to do it better (often with novel results).

Oil Changes can be discussed with more precision in the motors fora, and the gold standard can be discussed in politics or history.

Well that's my point - if a man want's to discuss what's on his mind he will go to the appropriate forum - if you want to release the inner nerd you go to tech, if you want to discuss the south east asian economy you go to politics, football the football forum, etc, etc.

To take another example, what do they actually do in the non-drinkers club? They seem to either go "oh yeah, drinking, that's not great" or else talk about sport, movies, music, activities etc. But the thing is, each of those things that they talk about can be dealt with more thoroughly in another forum.

In the same way, if one of these ladies wants to talk about clothes, they can do so in fashion and appearance. But there is no dedicated forum for periods, so the ladies lounge is necessary. I'm just trying to figure out if there is anything that men discuss with first hand knowledge and experience and where wimmins can only enter the discussion as an outsider with no real knowledge of the subject (other than, for example, the 18th green in portmarnock)?

    WTF?

Yore Ma's is our "lounge". Except it is a bar.

And before somebody suggest a private forum as a sub-forum off BGRH, it has been shot down already.

I agree with you brother Tom, but definitely the bar is not a lounge.

While I understand the OP's point about there being other fora to talk about football, cars, etc., the difference between mens' and wimmins' conversations are then blokes are less likely to stay on topic. For example, a conversation about tampons, for example, will roughly stay on the subject of feminine hygiene products and periods. If blokes start talking about football it soon moves onto another sport, from there to cheerleaders to wimmins in general to wimmins in bikinis being used to sell cars to cars, all within the space of a couple of minutes. How do you keep all that in one place other than BGRH?

Ah come on OP, there're other threads in the Ladies Lounge. You just don't like women having their own place to gossip.
May I suggest something for the men? Something along the lines of G.O.L.F.

Interesting, so rambling conversations are what set us apart. I guess it makes sense - so if there were to be a Man's Forum (I only said lounge for the reference to the other forum and also there already is a man's bar) it would have threads like "say something controversial" "random thoughts" and "miscelaneous and sundry"?

Also, if wimmins try to enter the discussion (other than in a trolling manner), would that be as weird as a man geting involved in a discussion about tampons?

Yes, I'd ask where the ammunition section was.

Considering why they would need tampons do you think having an ammunition section anywhere near would be a good idea?:)

No its not! Men don't ramble - we "discuss at length". They are quite different as rambling gives off a negative vibe. Actually did anyone go to the vibe for Philo recently? Wasn't bad but Smiley Bulger gets on my wick. He is one ugly sod. Still I guess its not his fault! I read Philo's biography - great book but very sad. Lemmy's was much better. They both led similar lives in terms of the sex, drugs and R&R but one of them is still alive (and never took heroin!). Still, nobody forced the drugs into him! For some reason Katy French sprang to mind! I've no sympathy for her but I feel sorry for her family. Anyhow, what was I saying?

Ok, so creatively and incisively discussing the fundamental interconnectedness of things is the male speciality.
