Toyo PROXES CF 1 or Vredestein SPORTRAC 3?

Am in the market for 4 new tyres. Have to be directional.

Was told ages ago that Vredestein make very good tyres. Put a set of T-TRACs on the Integra and they were awful, esp in the wet.

The Sportracs look a lot better, but should I just go with the Proxes.. anyone with experience of either?

Apparently the Sportracs tread was designed by Giugiaro, whatever that means. Could mean, like a lot of things Italian, all show and no go.

Proxes on the left, Sportracs on the right:

Proxies are great tyres. Never used the CF1s though. If you are looking at proxies, order them now! You could be waiting a while to get them..

What profile are you looking for?

The Goodyear Eagle F1s consistantly win every tyre test I've seen, which is why I have them on my car and why they are fantastic. I have Toyo T1-R's on another car, and the F1s absolutely beat them hands down.

Looking for 205/50/R15. I had Goodyear Eagle Venturas on a car a few years back, and they were super, but Goodyear don't make them anymore. I had Goodyear Eagle NCT5's on two cars recently, and while ok, they're not great.

+1. Just bought a full set of f1s. Fantastic grip, low lifetime!

In which way were the Vredestein tyres awful and why are you considering other Vredesteins if you had such a bad experiance.

Have a set on my cars (2.0Tdi Ultracs+accord Hi-tracs) and they're fantastic. Soft and so much grip esp the wet/corners...lots of fun.. and the price..

What are you looking for, for your integra? what size etc media says best all rounder is the Vredestein...I have to agree

Seems you can't get Goodyears easy enough in that size :(

    Going from Eiretyres, I'd get the Toyo T1-R's - €76 a corner.

Had t-tracs on the Integra and the grip was hopeless, wet or dry. I think tho that t-tracs are the bottom of the barrell when it comes to Vreds tho, and that Sportracs should be a lot better.

I am considering them again as the only mechanic I trust recommended them to me.

I had SportTrac2 on my previous car at one stage and they were pretty good. Lots of grip, low road noise and they wore pretty well. I can only presume the SportTrac3 are similar or improved.

Incidently I replaced the SportTracs with Toyo T1-Rs and while I only had the car for a short while after that they were a pretty good tyre. Plenty of grip in the wet and they were wearing pretty well. Changed from the SportTrac as the T1-Rs were recommended, they were that bit cheaper too. No experience of the CF1s though.

One thing to note though is that in my experience it totally depends on the car, the same brand tyres can be brilliant on one car and totally crap on another.

There aren't too many better tyre brands than Vredestein, i have fitted pleanty of sets of them and for a balance between, grip, price and life they have to be one of the best, You are actually the first person i have ever heard complain about them.

I think in your case you just went for the budget tyre that was more suited to a slowly driven family hatch, you will have the same experience even with Michelins or Bridgestones.

To be honest i don't have too much experience of toyo

BTW Giugiaro is just a bit of a promotional thing for vredestein to look fashionable, he is a designer, cars and stuff http://www.italdesign.it/

Those tyres on the left are Toyo Proxes T1R's, not CF1's. I had them, they were fab if a little on the soft side, so wear was noticeable (About 12k miles on the back of a 323i), and subjectively I reckon 80% as good for grip as the Eagle F1s I had. They really shined in the wet, they were nice and progressive in the wet, so no snappy surpises on the limit.
