    Happy Days!

I just celebrated my 36th birthday and what does my bro get me?

    A Neo Geo CD!
    A jap one!
With a load of games too!

    Life is good!

I am now playing Aero Fighters 1 and 2, Pulstar and a spot of KOF 99!

And to crown it all off my Nuon finally arrived from Canada, 2 months after shipping!

Unfortunately it has a wee problem recognising DVD format disks, so Tempest won't work, but the problem is in hand, most Samsung DVD players at the time used common components and the drive is no different, so I picked one up on eBay and my bro will do the surgery.

He's also going to stick a region switch on the Neo Geo CD, so the games will be in English, nice!

Nice one. Always wanted a Neo Geo. Have a hatred of aero fighters 2 since I credit feed 20 pounds into it to beat it only to find the last level was incredibly tough and had evil check points. Pulstar is too tough for me but I still love it.

The machines only short comings are the loading times which are very, very intrusive, still its certainly an affordable way to play NeoGeo games on something approaching the native hardware.
At the same time I can play most of them, sans loading, on the PC via emu, but then, it's not the same, is it?
If only NeoGeo had of put a dual speed drive and a tad more memory, ho hum.

    You lucky git.

I almost bought an AES system a few years back while I was over in Camden. Was reasonably priced. Then it dawned on me how much money I'd end up throwing away on games. So I decided against it.

In retrospect, it was probably for the best.

(Although I still deep down really bloody well want one!)

Actually, I know a guy who bought one back when they were originally released. Really must give him a ring sometime...
