    I installed it on VMWare and it worked at first but hung then when I was trying to get networking going it died.

    Thats a common misconception. It is illegal, even if you buy a copy of OS X specifically for your "hackintosh".

    Why? Because you don't buy the operating system, you buy a licence to use it, under the conditions set out in the EULA, so its not yours to play with :). Secondarily to run it on non-Apple hardware requires a modification of proprietary, copyrighted protected code, somewhat like chipping a console. <--- This is the clincher here, otherwise it would just be breaking the EULA rather than copyright infringement.

    Of course you could argue it comes under fair use, and I would agree with that. But don't fool yourself into thinking that it is legal, its simply not.

    Anyway, yes, I have it running on two PC's here. You will have to search elsewhere for the info you need though bearing in mind what I've said above. Stick to previous-generation Intel chipsets ideally with an ICH6 southbridge and Nvida Graphics cards, a "vanilla" kernel and you are golden.

    Thread locked, but just to mention and re-iterate, that this is in fact illegal, but discussion of such topics are against the charter and any further mention of this shall result in warnings/infractions.
