hey guys/ girls. how are ye? pretty new to boards.ie so i need your advice. basically im lookin to purchase an airsoft rifle, but i dont really no what to get?! first off i suppose, which is better: aeg, spring or gas? im looking for somethin that feels really like a real weapon and i suppose is made up mostly of metal parts (more realistic feel/ more hard wearing). but the big thing for me is accuracy. would love somethin that is fairly accurate at long distances. i have 2 airsoft pistols (both plastic m9 berettas) and they are both very inaccurate, even at 3-4m!! ive kind of made my mind up between the m4 or m14 assault rifles. what would ye recommend guys? also livin down in cork and there is a shop that stocks some airsoft guns. its called toys for big boys. any1 any experience with these? or should i just order online from one of the irish sites. they have some pretty good deals on the above guns. thanks in advance!! keith.....

Basically a good start wood be not to buy any of the sh1te in a gadget shop, nowhere in ireland bar mia has a walk in store that isnt a rip off quick buck kinda place.

Check the stickies for our trusted irish retailers.

Eirsoft, MIA, Irish airsoft supplies, airsofteire <- these are your men, google them and you'll get decent gear and good value.

Go for an AEG first, cheap to run and quite reliable. The best AEG on the market for low cost and good performance is Jing Gongs G36C. I've never seen one fail, also one of the most accurate AEG's out of the box.

If you're not looking to buy a cheaper Chinese make, the Classic Army armalites are pretty good and are mostly metal parts.

that was quick lads!! thanks for that... that place in cork, toys for big boys, is supposed to sell pretty good. stuff. one of the mates bought an m4 aeg in there for 250 euro and it seems pretty good. metal mag, trigger/ gard, sight etc and is pretty accurate. would this compare to the ones on the irish sites? id still probably buy off the net though, they seem to have a pretty good rep for quality/ service! how accurate are the M4's, M'15s?? distance wise like? any have experience with these?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 311 ✭✭NakedHedgehog

Accuracy are more or less the same. They'll be fine and are pretty accurate.
You can always upgrade to a precision barrel later.

You'll be guaranteed to be ripped off if you buy an AEG from any shop like that. (Like your mate)
They're Chinese clones which the mentioned Irish retailers sell for about €130 or so.

Actually, last time I was at HRTA a guy showed me his M14 and the rage and accuracy was scary. Think it was the ACM one but it may have been the TM. Anyway, they seem decent and have a nice barrell length. Augs are nice too: same barrell length but much shorter in total but not everyone likes them. I have the Classic Army but the Jing Gong is reasonably priced and reportedly reliable.

The G36's are very robust and I feel are more sturdy than the M4's
The M4's sometimes have wobbly handguards, wobbly mags, and wobbly
stocks. Also even a real M4 still feels very light and like a toy!!!

G36's although less metal feel more solid sturdy and dont wobble.
Jing Gong brand are very cheap and I have been very impressed
with the brand. I got a G36C and also a AUG from this brand and
    they are almost flawless.

Buy from one of the Irish online stores or else I reckon
you could get screwed for the price.

I got quite a few AEG's as I am an addict got all my pics here
if you spot anything you like I would be happy to comment
on what the brand/aeg is like.

id have to reccomend the JG G36c aswell, I got it from tony in eirsoft during the T4BB show and it hasnt so much as hicup'ed on me., the range is brilliant on it compared to most and the mags will hold 470 rounds. you can also get spare mags for 15 quid in eirsoft and there designed to lock together so you can carry more of them.,
one thing about the JG though is a few of them seem to come in hot but they are one of the easiest AEGs to strip. i have my gearbox out in about a minute or 2.,

The JG Bar 10 is a VSR clone so in theory its parts would be compatible...

Yeah think that was me i recommend the M14
Great accuracy and really good range
i also find it has a better RoF than an M4 on full auto

i bought the AGM one from Eirsoft
the only problem being the polarity is reversed/ the connections on the baterry are backwards

Just want to emphasise this, its true, that place did rip off your mate, regardless of what he got, he could have gotten it for less than half the price probably.

Most of the lads on here have been buying and importing etc. this stuff for a good while and know the story, the stores mentioned above are the only irish places to buy from.
Might I suggest also do not buy from digital warehouse or dw2, they come up on google but they have prices that in my opinion are a rip off also, three times what they are in other places.

so does that mean you'll have to change the wires around or can you do that easily??

    Mornin,

My M14 is the AGM version. If your an M14 lover I would suggest buy
something a little bit more expensive than the AGM.
I'm not an M14 lover and got it just as part of a collection.

Between the AGM M14 and the G36 if your buying clones
I think you will be happier with the Look of the G36 but
would have more satisfaction from the accuracy of the M14.

Its Heavy and Long and the battery compartment is a Joy to use
although the polarities of the wiring are reversed.

Firing its more accurate than some of the others Or should I saw its
more consistent. I actually have a real steel scope on it that I originally
had on my real steel rifle.

The plastic wood effect is very good and looks great until you actually
get up close and touch it and find out its not wood.

A small bit of the paintwork behind the back sight as orange peel bubbly
effect as if it will come off but so far it has not.

The Cocking action is Great, the fire selector is just plain weird and have
been told make sure you turn it fully into position or else you may loose semi
eventually?? The covering of the barrel on the front of the stock is very
light cheap plastic a bit disappointing cos even if you got a real wood kit
this part would still be a neg for the AEG.

The trigger is fantastic, squeezing rounds off feels like a real military rifle
trigger and not like some of the other AEG's that have toy like triggers where
you know you are just activating a circuit.

    ~B

Well that's the first time I've ever heard of CA being 'Cheap'.....

Classic Army anything is usually around the 300 mark. Not what I would class as cheap. The Sportsline series would be classed as cheap, I'm assuming this is what you mean?

want a cheap clone, to buy CA.
