Me and herself need a break on our own before number 3 arrives. We have nos. 1 and 2 taken care of for a few nights so we want to have a "money no object" break in Ireland. She wants a top notch spa, but I want to make sure there's something else for me to do, even if its just somewhere to stroll around, or sit and chill/read. I've heard Monart is great but is it all spa and nothing else? Will we be bored for two full days? any other suggestions?

    Congratulations on number 3.

I spent a weekend in Mount Wosley in carlow. Its a gorgeous hotel, massive grounds with a golf course and a nice spa. They were rebuilding and extending the pool and leisure facilities when I was down there but it might be worth a look for you.

    Have fun

Kellys in Rosslare. The spa is amazing. There is also a pool, gym etc. It's on the beach if you fancied a walk (or a run to keep warm!!). There's usually a sheet at reception where you can put your name down for golf. Or you could be kept busy going from meal to snack to meal!! Honestly!!

As with any of these places, make sure they can fit you in at the spa before you book.

    Enjoy

Monart is lovely but it is mainly a spa, great to chill out and do nothing but sit around in robes all day, if you can do that go for it treatments are also great,
I like the plaza in Killarney for a break spa has some lovely treatment and its a just a walk to the pubs, Muckross house is also a great spot and the spa is wonderful, there's a list of the best spas in Kerry in the indo today

we want to have a "money no object" break in Ireland.
If money is really not an issue, I suggest the K Club. We stayed there last November in a garden level superior room. The spa is good, the walks are nice and Straffan is a nice village to see. There are 3 restaurants to choose from, but the Byerley Turk Restaurant is the best – I was not impressed with Ledgends restaurant. The breakfast is the best of any hotel I have ever stayed in.

Close by and much cheaper is Carton House. Excellent spa and better country walks, nice snooker room.

Would like to avoid hordes of children if we could. Will probably be in Kelly's at some stage with the family so somewhere a little more relaxed would be nice. I think Killarney/Cork might be a bit far as we will be starting from Monaghan (Nos. 1 and 2 have to be dropped off). What about Knockranny House? It seems to have a good spa and good things to do? Anyone ever been? What about say Dromoland? Seems a bit pokey, especially the spa. We need to book soon as we want a Saturday night.;)

i went with my wife to Monart just before number 2 arrived for a couple of days, and loved it. This was my first time staying at a spa, and was amazed at how nice it was to do absolutely nothing for 2 days. I didn't think i'd like it but ended up really enjoying it, and was amazed at how tired my body really was. program was sauna, cold shower, read (bring a seriously good book to pass the time, if i hadn't had one, i wouldn't have enjoyed it i don't think), fall asleep, swim, massage, read, sleep eat, etc...1 and a half days was plenty though for me. The restaurant is excellent as well

mmmm. Maybe that's what I want. I have the good book already. Time to start haggling over the price!
