Can anyone recommend a Skype phone. I see Peats have one that can double up as a regular home portable phone. Appreciate any comments , suggestions etc. I have a headset already but would prefer a phone unit.:)

    Shouldn't this be in VOIP?

Anyhow I have the Philips VOIP841 and it's the dogs nuts, you can set different ring tones for land line and Skype and as it DECT 6 you can move anywhere in your house and it works 100% with no interference. (also does not interfere with anything wifi) only thing that bugs me is it does not have Skype text...

Hi god's toy. Where (and at what cost?) did you purchase your 814? Works well in Ireland? Is it really "no pc needed"? (I have Broadband - 2mbytes down) Can my pc and my 814 work at the same time? Many thanks Michael r.

Hi again. Any chance of a phone connection now? I'm in Kilmacanogue Co Wicklow - free call for me. Thanks as I'd like to firm up on the 814 - it looks good but don't want to make a mistake! Regards Michael r. ps Cancel all that - I would'nt like you to give out your phone nr to the public. Thanks anyway. Michael r.

    Hi,

I got the phone from Skype.com for €149 and here is the link I used: http://accessories.skype.com/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayPage&Locale=en_IE&SiteID=skypeeu&id=ProductDetailsPage&productID=78051200

Yep it works 100% you don't need any PC at all for it to run (if you have a Skype account set up and ready to go now you log into it on the phone)
I have no problems using my two PC's, Laptop and Xbox 360 all on the same router as the phone and it's always online and working, also downloading has so far not interfered with any calls I'm on.

What more do you want to know? As I said it does not do Skype chat/text but apart from that it's the biz.

In the box you got a voucher for 2HR worth of calls (Skypeout) and a years worth of free answer machine for any missed Skype calls (it does not have one built in)

I'm always around if you have more questions.

    regards,

    GT
