ATRAC on PS3

I have glanced through the PS forums and didn't come accross an answer.
I was given an ATRAC 3 (i think) / MP3 sony discman as a present. This was fine but since have replaced with an ipod.
Now iam confused i have all these cds and i have ATRAC enabled on my PS3, but it won't play these cd's, it'll find MP3's no problem.
Its just annoying as i have some good albums i would like to actually put on the ps3.
My PS3 is only a 40gb version, missed the 60gb (very upset about that!)
I don't know what version of ATRAC i recoreded them with but i just figured there all the same, clearly iam wrong.

    Any help would be appriciated.
But don't worry if you can't not the end of the world.

Are they protected? Sonys ATRAC is a DRM solution simular to WMA DRM files, and you'll need a license cert on the hardware to play em, If there unprotected then I dont know! It wouldnt suprise me though if the sony software burnt protected versions of the songs on cd, ive seen it happen with WMA files burnt in windows media player

Im not sure but it was sony software that burnt them in the first place so i just assumed maybe that a sony product would play them. Although i doubt they are protected, i have tried them all.
But the PS aint even finding any info on the disc.

Well it should play them , according to this atrac was added since version 1.11, I dont have any atrac stuff myself so cant test it , maybe the settings mentioned in here will work.

As regards finding the files , have you navigated to the disc and hit the triangle to select " show all files " ? .... then choose a file and see if it plays it , you have to do something similar with Xvids and so on !
