Was Planning a trip to Furteventura (Correjo) in April with my husband! were in our late twenties/early thirties! Wanted somewhere quiet wheres theres nothing to do but chill by da pool and head out for a few in da evening! A few people ive mentioned it to said its like a ghost town there! Dont want anywhere too dead but dont want anywhere over run by gangs of party animals!
Has anyone been there or could ya recommend somewhere hot and sunny in April! Been to Tenerife and Gran Canaria!
    Cheers!

Try Cyprus it would be nice and warm that time of year, people are friendly, Ayia Napa has a lovely beach their, it wont be over crowded that time of year either. It is a bit expensive but worth it, I cant wait to go back thier, I have been to Majorca last year but cant wait to go back to cyprus again.

I'm mid 20's and I've been there twice in the last 2 years and myself and my partner and we both really enjoyed it. Corrallejo is reasonably big with some shops (Mango, clothes, tourist shops) and things to do (waterpark, a reptile house in a converted nightclub). But what we loved was that there were loads of varied and relaxed places to eat. The first time we didn't eat in the second place twice because every day we saw somewhere we wanted to eat that night. I found it a nice place to just wander around or stay by the pool. The next year we were looking for somewhere to go and went back because we knew it was the kind of place to chill from stresses at home.

But I know people my age who went out and didn't like it at all because it was too quiet

Hi, I've been to Correljo, Fuerteventura 3 times last year, January, June and November. I loved it, went with my family in November and they loved it too.
Correljo wouldn't be the busiest of towns but thats why I went back, the peace and quiet but plenty of lively music at night. Make sure to visit The Dubliner on Thurs-Sat nights and say hello to my mate Donal. There's a great restaurant along the sea-shore just down from it too, El Trano, beautiful seefood.
    Hope this helps.

Went to Lanzarote few years back and took day trip to Fuerteventura. Lovely island but safe to say could not wait to get off it, and that was only a few hours.

Everyone has their own opinion but I have to disagree with you Savman.
I stayed in Puerto Del Carmen Lanzarote and have to say would choose Fuerteventura over it anyday. A more quiet place I agree but much more friendly. The manner of people in Lanzarote leave alot to be desired.
Eg: One morning in Puerto Del Carmen my partner slipped and fell on a dodgy surface outside a shop. As she was crying with pain I must have counted at least 20 people who walked by and didnt even ask if we needed help. Sitting on a wall deciding what to do a few guys turned up (local authority I think) and repaired the area as quick as possible, I think they were afraid we would put a claim in.
I did go to Lanzarote on the Princess Ico each of the 3 times I stayed last year for shopping but would prefer Fuerteventura for a more relaxing break.

Savman, how on earth can you assess an entire island (which is larger than Lanzarote) in a few hours?

I never said I did, I think it was Corralejo (sp?) we went to, just didn't like it at all. Beaches were fantastic, but otherwise I'd do my nut in on that island for a week, totally dead. A few friends of mine said the same thing, but that's not to say it may not be the perfect place for others.

Now that's just silly, the "manner" of people?
Word of advice, don't ever visit London, people will literally trample over you on the tube to get where they're going. If you want small, friendly spots where the locals welcome you with open arms and free drinks, maybe the Budget Travel brochure is not the place to find them because naturally all package holidays will have an element of not-so-friendlies.

Anyway back OT, Fuerteventura is a beautiful island, no doubting that, just very quiet.

I must admit I agree with what you are saying Savman but hey thats the uk all over.
Good manners and friendly attitude to badly needed tourists are what bring many people back to the same holiday destination over and over again- not the (I wouldn't **** on you if you were on fire attitude)

If I decide to return to a previous holiday destination I base my decision on a number of things, one certainly being the attitude of the people I meet on my holidays.

    Check out www.hesperia-bristolplaya.com
We stayed here, also make sure to google it and read some of the review to give you a better idea.
    Hope this helps
PS-Correljo is 20-25mins by bus or car from airport in Fuerteventura. (Unless you plan to hire a car as far as I remember its about €13 by bus.)

Heading over in Sept and staying in Las Marismas in Corralejo. My first package holiday in years!

Normally book everything independantly, but decided to give this a try.

I'm just like Naggie, looking for a chill out holiday with just dinner and a few cold ones at night, but I'll probably end up hiring a car and doing a drive around the island for a couple of days.

    Hi,

I think you would like it there. Its a nice place, beaches are great and huge.. no problems with space on beaches, food is really nice there, and if your looking for a nice place to stay, Las Marismas is really nice, very relaxing holiday, and theres always fun to be had in places in Carraljo (excuse the spelling).

It is however called the Windy Island, which lived up to its name while i was there.. it was nice at times though to cool you down, was ther ein the middle of summer.

Sorry to be dragging up an old thread - but looking for some recommendations on Las Marismas - thinking of heading over in 10 days time for a week, so need to get the finger out and start booking somewhere. Looking for a relaxing enough holiday but we'd enjoy a few drinks and a meal in the evening. Thanks.

Stayed there last year. Pretty good but don't go for the all in option, the food isn't particularly good.

Some good restaurant recoomendations if you want...
