Here is one for all the ballistic experts, what calibre shoots flatter to 300mt, 223 or 243 weights being equal ?

i had the .223 and now have a .243, i find the .243 to be a lot more flatter, the .223 starts to lose a fair bit of power after 250/300 yards.

I think the .243 shoots flatter. I had a .17 Remington for fox shooting, that was seriously flat shooting out to 300.

    55gn bullet in 243=2.05moa at 300
    55gn bullet in 223=2.75moa at 300

Conclusion 243 is 6.15 inches low approx. at 300 yds
223 is 8.25 inches low approx. at 300 yds

243 is a great round. 223 is not as magic as people think

223 isn't legal for deer. "Cheap" ammo is inconsistent, good ammo as expensive as swift, no good in wind, drops too fast after 200 yards, effective range on foxes 250 yards, if you're good enough, hassle getting licence (in places), it will almost certainly be on restricted list, which will mean higher security req's etc

17 rem, 220 swift, 204 ruger, 22-250, 243 are better calibres with less hassle
