Just saw this on neogaf. Fingers crossed.

    http://www.gamesradar.com/us/ps3/game/previews/article.jsp?sectionId=1001&articleId=20080116164640708073&releaseId=20070209104752229059
Even before the PC version released, rumours of a PS3 conversion of the stunning Crysis (developed by Far Cry creators Crytek) were rife, and not far off the mark if insiders at the studio are to be believed. The game looks to be a port of the PC original plus some extra modes and features, a kind of Crysis 1.5. Like the PC game you can expect a visual powerhouse; an open-world shooter that begins on a beautiful tropical island before things take a turn for the worse and aliens from a parallel world stake a claim on Earth. Only the mighty Killzone 2 could possibly hold a candle to this shooter. For technical reasons we hear an Xbox 360 version of Crysis isn’t in development. Bet you’re glad you bought a PS3 now, eh?

I downloaded the demo for this game onto my pc. To be honest, it seems like Far Cry (my favourite pc game of all time) part 2 - with some additional superpowers from the nano suit. Its ironic that I had to buy the top of the range graphics card (Radeon x800xt) at the time to run Far Cry when it came out over 3 years ago. When I directed the Crysis demo to automatically adjust my pc settings to the game, the best it could manage was the lowest possible visual resolution. Shows how fast things move on in the pc world. My "cutting edge" graphics card from 2004 can't even handle crysis on its lowest resolution without stuttering and freezing up.

I don't think I want to go out and buy a new pc just to run this game though, as good as it might be. If it is ported to the ps3, surely, the graphics won't be as good as they would be on a high end pc? Otherwise why did they bother releasing it for the pc at all as most people are being put off by the lousy frame rates from this graphics intensive monster of a game - check out the forums. Games that are ported from one system to another always lose something in the translation. If crysis does come to the ps3, it will probably be just another pretty shooter but won't have the visual impact that some people have raved about - I wouldn't know as my pc was shrieking for mercy trying to run this game!!!!

I agree with you 100%. Taking into account all the hype i reckon it'd sell loads if it was ported to a console. I'd buy it.

I can see it happening too. EA have a lot of money to make up on this game as of this time. Last i heard it only sold a measly 80,000 copies in the US cos of pirated copies online and the high hardware spec needed.

I would probably buy it despite the dubious things I have heard about the games last section. Never mind the fact that my puny laptop would probably explode if I tried to install it.

Given the balls that EA made of porting the Orange box to the PS3, is this really anything to get excited about?
The pc version is an overrated piece of crap, and I can't imagine the PS3 version being any better...

The general consensus with PC gamers is Crysis is gpu limited and just like FarCry will be a year or two before the hardware exists to run at a solid 60fps at 1920x1080. At the moment people are barely making 30fps with the Crysis benchmark running at 1280x1024 with 8800GTX Ultras. I wonder how the PS3's RSX/7800 chip will fare. I'd say the game will take some severe optimisation to hold a playable framerate on the PS3. And no doubt it will be a native 720p title. In fact do any 1080p native games exist on PS3 yet besides RR7, VTennis3 ?

COD4 is 1080p, but its annoying u have to change the display settings on PS3, to only output at 1080p, cause COD4 starts in 720p...

Yeah i've noticed that. How do u fix that??

Yeah, crysis is just an advertisement for the middleware software they are trying to sell, so as a game the story wasnt the highest priority to them :p

But crysis would be a nice addition to any console.

Just so long as they don't screw it up like the version of Far Cry that was ported to the consoles. What was an excellent game on the pc was a pale imitation of itself on the XBOX etc.

As for EA having the marketing rights for Crysis, that would put me off buying it as most things that they have produced in the last few years were crap. Did anyone buy medal of honor rising sun for the ps2? I did and it was sh!te - lousy graphics (barely worthy of a ps1!!) and a worse story. As for the latest medal of honor airborne on the pc, my brother bought that and had to bring it back as it wouldn't run on his pc without crashing every minute or two.

Considering Crytek's stance on consoles, I doubt they'd spend their time and effort on porting a game they already developed... I can imagine them creating something new on PS3 though.

The rumour actually mentions it's more like Crysis v1.5, so it could actually be better in some ways, who knows.

Crytek have gone on record saying they don't believe console gamers are too concerned with graphics like PC users, so graphically it will be cut down for sure....Hopefully it will turn out like Quake 2 on the playstation
