Additional broadband connection

Does anyone know if it is possible to have two broadband connections using only one wired router? I have a desktop computer with wired broadband and would like to be able to share the broadband connection with a laptop computer in another room without using a wireless router i.e. wired connection as per the desktop.

A device called HomePlug was mentioned in Which? magazine but there was no further details on it.

Can anyone provide any knowledge/experience of this area?

I'd say the easiest way would be to buy a new router that has multiple ethernet ports.

Or if you want to do it on the cheap cheap, you could connect the laptop to the PC via LAN and set up internet connection sharing on the PC... although the downside is that the PC has to remain on for the laptop to have net access... and it's a bit fiddly to set up sometimes.

This should work providing your BB router will allow multiple internal clients (most will). In fact, I'd be surprised your current router doesn't have multiple internal ports...?

It is a Voyager 210 and only has one ethernet and one USB port.

Plug a switch into the ethernet port and you should be laughing.

When you say a 'switch' what do you mean? The ethernet port is already in use for my desktop.

    A switched hub.
