SE, USB Charge without software?

    Hi,
I have a Sony Ericsson K610im and it seems you can't charge the phone through the USB connection, unless you have the software installed or you turn the phone off before plugging it in to the USB port and keep it off while it's charging.

Is there any way to just plug it in when it's on standby to charge normally without needing the software?

    Any feedback appreciated :)

Also, where can I get a cheap wall charger, the Sony store wanted €30 for one:eek: It'd be cheaper to buy a new phone and get free credit then pay that!

Was able to use Windows Update to get the drivers and it didn't install any annoying Sony Software, I think :)

It installed drivers for about 8 different things, network thing, ethernet thing and a few other things.

Does this mean I can use my phone to get online? Anyone know how?

If you click >*<<*<*<* that should bring you into the service menu which gives you the option to turn usb charging on or off.

Regarding the internet you need to and turn the "USB Internet" setting in data connections to on.

Cool, never knew that :) thanks!

Any idea how much it costs and is it per KB or per minute charging?

Edit: Damn Spamhaus, can't send emails when connected to it :(

Edit2: Also, can this work abroad and is there roaming or local charges I wonder?

Just rang o2, seems it's 1c per KB and it's the same in the UK if you connect to o2 UK, and 1c per kb in France if you connect to some provider beginning with the letter B:o

I asked what's the most expensive it could possibly be and she couldn't tell me, but said some countries in the far east can charge 12 euro per KB! lol:eek:

I asked her about Spamhaus and she didn't know what I was talking about:rolleyes:
