  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 993 ✭✭✭bigslick

Have to be UCD student i believe to get ticket. They ask for valid UCD student card or else a L&H society membership card

Right oh, Will Ferrell is coming to UCD as an invite by the L&H and is being awarded the James Joyce award. I know this because I am on the committee. It will be held in Astra hall on Wednesday at 6pm. L&H members allowed in free while non-members will have to sign up at the stands (in Student centre and Arts block).

According to the Reichsfuhrer of the L&H (Michael Mc Grath), there will be 1000 plus tickets available. Unfortunately, Mr. Ferrell will have to put up with yours truly for the afternoon (and hopefully on the tear after)!! It is good to be alive!!

You know if he decided he didn't want to bother coming he could always get Chad from the Chilli peppers to stand in for him....

I still reckon they are the same person....

You're not alone there, although Sandler's early stuff was brilliant (Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, SNL). That being said I probably still might pop in to this depending how I'm fixed for lectures on Wednesday.

Will Ferrell does not say that, its Brick Tamland who says that. Classic film and classic line though.

I'm well aware of that, I just dislike Will Ferrell and said I'd be reasonably in step with the thread.

Astra Hall???? I thought it was O'Reilly? Or are they the same place and no one ever told me!?

Crap, that comment has blown wind straight up my ass!! Will re-check tomorrow but I am nearly sure it's O' Reilly hall. Again, I will post tomorrow!

You wont have to queue for hours, its a ticketed event. If you're an L&H member then happy days! Its easier to get a ticket! Just go to the desks! For all non L&H members, it's a case of signing up for the tickets. If you're in either category, the tickets will start being available from Monday.

    It will be awesome!

Why is he getting an award from UCD? He's an actor. Oh that's a good enough reason

Well he's getting it from the L&H, not quite the same thing!

I wonder what James Joyce would think about him getting the award though...

Don't forget those zany mannerisms and wild flailing arms.

I don't get the fascination with the guy myself. He's well overrated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 993 ✭✭✭bigslick

i got his singing of 'only for a moment' on video. was such a great event. the first time i didnt get pissed off when it started way late. was so pumped to see him. anyone direct me to photos or video of event to relive my memories. Loved the mention of his bebo pictures from longford lol!!! how i laughed

Now I'd hardly call it genius, in fact far from it. It was mildly amusing at best, and the endless cliches kind of grated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,845 ✭✭✭2Scoops

Wasn't very hard to find... but it is very hard to hear! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 699 ✭✭✭ashyle

He's one of my favourite actors so I was a bit worried that he wouldn live up to my expectations but wow did he! Amazing night, I laughed from start to finish.. my mate got Will's water bottle from the stage and asked him to sign it. Ha.

What a legend I have so much more respect for him now. When I saw him reading part of the speech I'll admit I was a bit disappointed but in answering those questions from students-good job guys if you're reading :) - he showed just how hilarious and off the cuff-funny he can be.

Yup, stayed in the VIP section for most of the night, but did a lap of the club escorted by bouncers just saying hi to people.

TBH, i had thought the best bit by far wasn't down to Will but one of the people who asked him a question. When Will was singing "Afternoon Delight" having been asked to by the girl on the right mic and then when it came to the second verse the tone deaf knacker (no offense if your on boards ;)) chimed in and then asked Will if he "scored any Biiiiiiiirds". Fantastic
