Does anyone know how much an eye test costs?

Really feel like I should have one in the next couple of weeks but I've been trying to stick to a rigid budget!

I think I remember reading that if you spend more than 1 hour a day at work in front of a computer than your employer has to cover the cost of an eye test.

If you pay prsi fill out the prsi optical forms and send them in now.so that they will be back in a few weeks and you won't have to pay for the test.

It's even easier now. Phone your optician with your PPS number (providing your in paid employment and not self employed) They can find out by email or fax if your qualified or not before your appointment. When you get to the Optician you fill in a small form and you get a free eye test and allowences towards glasses

Or even call this number and the crowd in Letterkenny will tell you if your entitled to a free eye test or not

Allowance for glasses on your PRSI was a casualty of Mc Cathy/austerity budget about four years ago.
You can still get a free test with PRSI. You need a medical card to get allowances towards glasses. Currently the HSE are taking about 2 months to authorise applications in our area.

Yeah that was a post from jan 2008 it's a bit different now alright. Since jan 2010 PRSI entitled people are only allowed a free eye test.
