casv front end -do i need a peq box to fit the battery

S-system -can one of these just replace the standard plastic hand guard.or would i need to do other work to fit one

I do not have much experience with the s-system but as far as I'm aware it simply replaces the existing handguard, you can fit a mini battery, and you have to use a m203 with a ris fitting.

I've recently purchased a casv system by knights arms ( for a EOD casv m4 project I'm hoping to post on in the near future), this has enough room for a battery inside it I've currently managed to fit a 9v 2+++ slit design inside this casv i have no idea if this would be the same with the dboys but i have no reason to think it will not be the same.

the S-System will just silde onto your M4 gatling and its held on with a bracket thing on the left side. one thing im not sure of is weather you can use your standard front sight with this one and you wont be able to use the carry handle either. (well, you will but it ould have to be mounted hight up and the sights will be way off).,
If i was mounting a launcher i would go with the S-System for the simple fact it has more room to have a batter inside instead of hahing to mount a PEQ aswell, it would just look clutered.,

I've a CASV and I find the fore end is a little flimsy becasue its only held on by attaching to the rail on the top of the reciver. Wouldn't like to hang a heavy m203 off it. The fore sight has to come off for the s-system.

always thought the casv was more secure being fixed to the receiver hmm looks like a S-system it is then ,as for the front sight ive sourced a flip up sight that can be used

The whole fore end is haning off the a small rail held on with a couple of screws. I had to tighten mine up a bit and there is still movement in it. Its not bad now but I get the feeling it may losen a lot worse over time. Im hopping the metal body I ordered will reenforce it a bit.

the S-system is metal for the upper part and abs for the lower ,going to try find an all metal one , a couple of the casv reviews said its a more stable platform for attachments

2 friends have s-systems on order due in a week or so if you can wait and I can confirm.

yeah as rew said the CASV can come loose but the same applies to the S-System really, i found the best thing was to tape up the delta ring with black insulation tape so that the rail has a tight fit over the ring., think thats the best thing to do. its not really a problem if you tighten everything up but i just added the tape to prevent it comming loose again.,

Hi guys, new to the forum but am very interested in the thread as it is exactly the type of thing I want to do to my M4a1, would be interested in seeing some pics of the final outcome, also the guy who used the tape to secure the CASV would it be possible to see some pics particularly from the front of the rifle.

    Cheers

i used tape on the delta ring on the S-system, its pretty secure without it but it helps prevent it comming loose in future.,

Think I am confusing what the s-syetm is. After some searching I think I am going for the below, I am having difficulty in deciding if I will need to make any adjustments to the fixings or if this would be a straight swap for the current foregrip.

    Any advice gratefully recieved.

it should just replace the the standard plastic hand guard, dosent need any tools or other parts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

That just a normal ris unit, should fit nearly all m4 front ends without any modification (barring any qc issues, hard to plan for with clone products but should not be a problem with something like this) what model m4 are you looking to add it to?

have to say never had any issue with the knight arms casv unit so far, fits well with no play/movement

Just a word of warning, that won't fit a JGM4, unless you change the delta ring and the handguard retainer, as it is a slightly different size than the dboys

Thanks for the replies, I have the dboys m4A1.

Then it should fit perfectly. I'll probably be selling one soon if you're looking to get one.

dont think that holds your battery though gatling, you might need either a PEQ or a battery stock to use it,.,

Also the 203 might be a bit heavy for it. Its the 2 piece one, supported by the delta ring and handguard retainer
