Go to as many events and meetings as possible to gain experience.

Morningtide prerelease this weekend on saturday and sunday mornings (11am) in Models Inc on Dorset St would be a perfect opportunity to get on the magic text list and learn about more things as well as meeting other players.

Downstairs in 4th dimension on Crowe St, templebar every saturday and sunday is a regular hangout for some players. Friday evenings at 6.30pm in Models Inc for FNM sealed deck tournaments.

Get talking to people, get to events, and you'll get good and enjoy it more.

Go to 4th Dimension (3rd Place, Downstairs... Crow Street, Temple Bar), there's often players in there that'll play a casual game with them.

Best tips are find someone who plays and play lots....

I don't play Macic, but I have played other games (Star Trek CCG and WWE Raw Deal) and the advice work in general. Pick a deck type that you enjoy playing and start getting better cards for that deck. Play the very best players you can find and play them regularly. Even if they constantly beat the hell out of you, you will learn lots.

Go to the toughtest tournaments...you will see and pick up strategies you never knew existed.

    Practice, Practice, Practice!

If you download magic workstation, you can prepare decks and look through all the cards virtually. It's handy for finding out nice combos. Also it lets you play against people online.

I'm sure there is a link stickied in the forum with the details.
