    As a PC user since 1998. I have decided after years of wanting to switch to mac. However there is still some things i need clarification on.

    1. Is downloading torrents a problem?
    2. WMV, Divx, Xvid...will i have problems with these on the mac?
    3. have been thinking about getting the Macbook....shall i go ahead and get this or shall i wait longer and get the Macbook Pro or go for the imac? All look sleek but i think the macbook might be just what i need (Air actually doesnt interest me, but it is cool)
    4. I know you can get MS office for Mac, but does iWork do the job just as good? Also, i use a Windows pc for work, will the two be able to run each others documents, say .doc or .xls

    I am sure iv more questions, but im tired.

    yes to all
    natively on the mac (no need for bootcamp or parallels)

    do it - if money isnt the issue then get a macbook pro - altho my macbook mid range is perfect for everything

    Not at all, an application like Transmission or an equivalent will work exactly the same as any PC torrent client.
    2. WMV, Divx, Xvid...will i have problems with these on the mac?

    Nope
    3. have been thinking about getting the Macbook....shall i go ahead and get this

    If you think the Macbook will suffice for your needs, as you say, then no need to spend the extra cash on style IMHO. The Macbook is a lovely looking machine too.

    iWork contains Apple's equivalent of Office, Pages == Word, Numbers == Excel and so forth. These individual applications will give you export options to .doc, .xls etc allowing you to port them to Windows apps. You could buy Office for Mac if you would prefer that, or use Open Source alternatives, matter of personal taste really, but there won't be any compatibility hassle (well, nothing that can't be overcome at least.

    @conor: lol!!!!!!!!!

    @Zhane: ....

    1. No
    2. No
    3. Depends on what you need.....the MBP can be hard to justify if you don't need the bigger screen or fancy graphics and extra processing power / ports
    4. Yes. Yes

    fook!

    that was meant to be a no - short answer i know

    openoffice works for me - i type up my essay - translate to whatever doc type i need and transfer to pc (only did this once - had no ink)

    torrents - several progs

    sim games - loads - not as good as in not as many games as for pc - but theres all ways bootcamp/vmware/paralells

    haha , that was a stupid mistake - you wont have any probs with anything you said there - in fact its easier for the most part
