Just wondering what the consensus is on this show around here. I'm catching up on it on Challenge TV with the last week and I had forgotten how funny it can be.

My dad on the other hand thinks I'm on some kind of donkey strength hallucinogenic to be laughing at it.

What's your view, surreal genius or stupid nonsense? Eranu or Uvavu?

Very Hit n Miss, occasionally hilarious, occasional tumbleweed.

I've never been able to understand how Reeves & Mortimer are considered funny.

its absurdist humour like all their shows - inevitably a bit hit-and-miss, but very funny at times. Reeves seems to have retired from doing original comedy and is spending his time on panel shows like QI these days - no idea what Mortimer is up to.

+1 - never laughed at it. Not funny. (in my humble opinion)

At that time the best stuff was Paul Calf (coogan) and Alexei Sayle (stuff)

Prefer "the Smell of...." esp the earlier series with Slade at Home and Sitting on the Dock of the Bay sketch but Shooting Stars could be very funny.

I think they were both genius in their day but also preferred the smell of! Shooting Stars was really good too though.

Comedy quiz show Shooting Stars will return for a Christmas special.

Hosts Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, along with Matt Lucas's romper suit-wearing George Dawes character, will return for a BBC Two one-off this December to mark the show's 15th anniversary.

The station's controller Roly Keating has additionally ordered a "best of" clip show that will include behind-the-scenes footage and outtakes.

The original version of Shooting Stars ran from 1992 to 1997 on BBC Two with team captains Mark Lamarr and Ulrika Jonsson. The show was revived in 2002 for digital channel BBC Choice with Will Self replacing Lamarr.

It is not yet known who will captain the teams, though Russell Brand is rumoured to be one of the celebrity panellists.
