Studying Abroad at DCU

    Hey all,

I'm currently doing an abroad program with Boston University that takes place on the DCU campus. While I won't be taking any "real" DCU courses I do have a DCU student card and stay in the apartments near the sports complex. I hate to be the ignorant newbie here, but I've got a few ignorant questions.

    1. Where the hell can I grab a bite to eat on campus? I've got a 90 minute lunch break to kill and so far I've taken to cooking stuff I got at the eurospar or going into NuBar and grabbing a pint.

    2. Any place to buy cheap booze in order to drink before hitting the wildly expensive downtown area?

    3. Given that I won't be taking any classes with other DCUers, what's the best bet for meeting students here? I've heard the societies are pretty sweet, would you recommend them?

    4. Your campus is pretty damned awesome. In Boston the "campus" is nothing but a few motley buildings on the main road and the weather is much harsher.

    Thanks in advance.

    - The canteen is pretty much on the opposite side of campus from student residence. I'll get ya a map in a second :)
    - Eurospar is the best place to get your cheap drink. They have a pretty decent selection.
    - Redbrick has a very busy membership with chatrooms where ya can get to know plenty of people quite quickly. Check http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie

everything you need in Eurospar unless your willing to travel a bit further to the (cheaper) Tesco in the omni centre, or the clearwater one which is open 24/7

societies would be your best bet, or hitting the bar on a Tuesday for €3 pints!

    enjoy yourself :p
