    Ha! It'll ruin you! :p

Have you sold the BMW or are you a 3 car household?

Congrats - a cool classic. I hope it does not look much different today. Although I preferred the original teledial alloys that were on these cars when launched. :)

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

It's up for sale now. I really hope it will go to a good owner. The 735 is a superb car by any standard!

If I were you, i'd mention in the ad that your car has the comfort seats. They were an expensive option, and are a dramatic improvement over the standard seats. I, for one, wouldn't buy an E38 without them.

How did you recognise the "comfort seats"?

Or did the nappa upgrade (from the standard leather) mean an upgrade to "comfort seats" as well?

My brother was looking at 7s before he bought the A8, and he never shut up about them! They're the ones with what look like two piece backrests - if you look at a pic of a car without them you'll see the difference. As regards whether they came with the nappa, i've no idea - i'm not that much of a nerd!

Looks lovely Unkel, best of luck with it, it reminds me of one of my favourite movie scenes in "Risky Business"

The 928 was my favourite car for years, had 3 or 4 models of them 1/18th scale !

The 735i looks like a nice one too, if I were to be pedantic I could tell you that as far as I recall ( I sold BMW's from 95-97) that particular leather became the standard for V8 cars in '96, when the 6 cyl. cars all recieved built in phones and leather as part of their standard Irish Spec.!

    You're all very kind. Thanks!

The 928 has been my favourite Porsche for more than 30 years. I remember the introduction of the 928 when I was a boy. Back then I bought the reason Porsche saw the 928 as the replacement of the 911. Most people disagree and I'm the first to admit that a 911 is a more engaging car. In many ways better, but not for me. The 928 appeals to me though for it is as much a GT as it is a sports car. I've always loved the looks. Most are equipped with an auto box, something which I have grown to love over the last decade or so. Now shoot me for I'm no purist :)

Time for some stats and answers methinks

    It's an '86 928 S2. 4.7l V8 officially with 310BHP but reputed to be more like 330-340. Mine's a 4sp auto box (same one as used in a W126 S-class, is that right, MercMad?)

It looks fantastic and drives great, but the car is not without issues to put it mildly. Hence the low price I paid for it. I'll report back on the status of the car soon :)

The car has a checkered history. It was fully serviced by Porsche for 10 years and 120k miles

But since then it has had a quiet life. Plenty of evidence of the car being off the road. Now the odometer reads 138k miles

Last TB was done 5k and nearly 5 years ago
I hope it does not look much different today

Sorry, my comment about old pictures was misleading. I believe those pics were taken only a few months ago. The car looks fabulous. The paint is in great condition. It is very, very hard to believe that the 928 was introduced in '77 and that my car is nearly 22 years old. I was parked beside an unregistered ('08) 911 and honestly, they looked like two Porsches to me. Rather than like an old POS on the left and a very expensive car on the right. But I'm probably a delusional old fool

All true - and the rest. The 928 eats (front and rear) discs, pads and tyres for breakfast. And I won't even start about 928's drink problem :)

It is my daily driver, but I do a low mileage. Obviously it's gonna cost way more in maintenance than a modern hatch. I just hope it doesn't break down on me altogether. That would be end of story. Fortunately, 928s are extremely well built. The engines are very strong and reliable if they are cared for
I preferred the original teledial alloys that were on these cars when launched. :)

I prefer the original. Full stop. They are much more expensive though and the 3-speed auto box isn't the best

Cheers. Considering a new door lists at about €4k it's not hard to understand that 928 owners and scrappies are good pals :D

Aye. I've been addicted to them for many years now :)

That's most likely the one I bought! The previous owner imported it, registered it and paid the VRT. Do you know anything else about it?

Yes the 735 has the two piece backrests alright!

My 735 is a UK import. Does that make any difference? I believe back then the specs (between the UK and Ireland) were not the same (as is the case these days). Is my leather Nappa or not? If not, I need to change my ad

Stop right there. If I post something that you know is not true, I very much appreciate you correcting me. No matter how small the detail

Nice Motor obviously. I'd say a 5.0 V8 is fun at the pumps:D! Nothing like a V8 noise though at full chat as I discovered to my delight today!

BMW specs for Ireland and the UK have been identical since BMW started importing the cars themselves back in 2004 though, bar the km/h speedo of course and of course the 316i is an Irish special.

Stunning car - always a favourite of mine. Best of luck with it, and the sale of the 7 series.

Good luck with the U Boat.

I have had many a heated debate with 911 owners (Zealots/fanboys) down the years. They were always upset when I highlighted the fact that the 928 was a more sophisticated car.

    Mind how you go !

I have a 911 and have driven a 928 ( One of the guys in Medical skool had one) 928 is a better car, its comfortable, fast, great road holding, the heating and cooling work.
The911 is cramped and cold, the heating is still a mystery to me, it can be tail happy especialy on muddy roads, it leaks (esp the targa) But it is more involving - Its the reason why the 993s have higher residuals than the 996 ( 911 gone soft?) .
